Yea, I'm starting to think the ford Motorsport programming due to the track key is causing my problems. When I go on IDS and it reads the car it says 2013 mustang with my correct vin. And when I try changing anything I get a "Vehicelow battery check connection" maybe I did the PATS incorrectly? I didn't wipe it out then program them,I just programmed the keys and the car runs and starts normal though so i don't think that's the problem.. But I am using a 2013 Boss cluster... I wonder if I can erase the PATS and start over, and see if that's why it sees my car as a 2013

All set, all works, dealer had no issues... But to enable the track key after the cluster it needs to go onto PTS which only the dealers have... Do track key after cluster swap...

Not sure if this has been discussed, but for anyone with the base radio that does not display the compass heading (I believe it's cars without self dimming mirror), use the ICM values from a car with NAV so you don't get 2 dashes in the left corner of your radio.

No option 14 GT, just used the 2013 Boss ASBUILT codes and that was it, no dashes on the radio.Click image for larger version

That works too, as the Boss does not have the compass feature. Most GT premiums would probably have the compass in the radio, and using those ICM values put dashes on my radio until I tried codes from a NAV car. Just wanted to give a heads up to folks.

That would make sense... I still get a "radio communication with IPC" DTC... Not sure why, but it doesn't set a light or anything

So I'm gathering this is a little more involved to put a 13 or 14 LCD cluster in my 11 base gt auto. I work at a ford dealer so parts won't be hard to get.

@DeerSlayer: I ended up buying a 2013 Shelby GT500 Cluster today. Still trying to find the Left Cruise Switch D3RT-9E740-BCW for less than $50 shipped.

Would you be able to help me make this work with my Base 2014 GT? I am located about an hour from Austin, if you are still willing to help me out.

Update: I have found out the part has three different numbers from Ford:
- D3RT-9E740-BCW
- DR3Z-9C888-BA
- Ford Motorcraft SW 6911

I read that the late 14 Mustang gt's have a boss ecu if that's true does that make it easier to install a boss cluster?

Also if I want the Ford boss tune should I do the cluster first then tune or tune first?

How to install a 2013 Mustang Track Apps Instrument Cluster in a 2013 Base mo...

Change the cluster before you do anything else... From my experience (also a late 14gt) you can use any cluster you want, but must use a boss or late 14 cluster to use track key, if you decide to..

The car's completion date should also be in the driver's door.

I'm going to assume the middle number is the month and the first number is the day because the door tag on my car says it was built in 02/2013 and the info I got from this website says: 06.02.2013

thanks for the link.

My door tag does not give a three date code. It just says 02/2013. It does not give the day that it was built.

Right it's only month/year. The important months where a day is nessisary is 7/13 where the change happened to the PCM.. Window sticker also has the year, day, and month on it also.

You do have to install the patch. What version patch did you get?

Mine is also a V86 patch but it doesn't give a date. If you read in this thread above your posts, some people are having issues with the V86 version and are having to use a V91 version that I guess is an upgraded one. I don't have a cluster yet so I don't know if my version will still work or not.

I know when I was first messing around with the VCM II tool and had it hooked up to my car, it would recognize my VIN. I have not hooked it up since then to see if it still does.

Good luck on your install.

I did read their posts which is why I wanted to try without the patch first. Mine is an early 13 - I bought it in Sept '12 and I think the build was in June or July, I've forgotten.
I'm not doing a track key - I do have the FR tune but it's not supposed to be altered by the dash cluster.

What version of Windows are you running on your computer? I had to buy an older laptop off of CL that had XP installed because my Windows 7 laptop would not work correctly with the program.

I'm a Mac guy so I bought an old Dell XP machine just for this. Seems to communicate fine with the tool/program.

Has anyone ever attempted a 13-14 GT500 cluster in a 13-14 GT? Also got the speedo, tach, and most of the apps to work?

Ok, you should be good there. I don't know what the problem could be then.

If you go back to some of the earlier posts in this thread, there is someone who installed a late model GT500 cluster in his late model car and got it to work. I think some of the things did not work quite right though.
