Gears for auto again

I know it's been worked over but here's my angle- 2012 auto Bama tune, airaid cai, axle back, lca's. I'm spinning at the top of first and bottom of second on stock tires, and will be ordering some sticky rubber next week. However, most of the "encounters" I have "in Mexico" begin around 30-40 mph. Which usually puts me at 4000 rpm in second. It seems like the car picks up at 5000 rpms. I've only seen one video on YouTube of a 3.73 auto but it looked like it was faster than my car 30-80 with similar mods. Is there anyone out there with 3.73s to chime in? I seldom "race" from a dead stop and it's always over in 2 blocks. Of course I don't want to screw myself off line or lose punch at higher speeds. Not a dd and I doubt it will ever see 1/4 mile track, local track is only 1/8 mile.

Post number 8 on here answers your question pretty well. A 3.73 in the auto is close to a 4.40 in a manual. It's overkill.

I know I've been scouring the forums. It seems like everyone approaches it from 1/4 mile aspect and that's not what I'm doing. Please, someone with 3.73s or 4.10 chime in on drive ability! Or even 3.31s

Kar sorry I didn't read your reply correctly and missed the link. Thank you! So looks like 3.73 is overkill on auto but 3.55 would be top limit.

I'm trying to be quicker on the street. At street applications- rolling, often short bursts, not going past 80 most times. I want more out of second gear. Say what you want about ripping a little on the main drag but getting beat by imports sucks.

I can tell you how you're going to go faster but you're not going to like what I have to say.

Honestly do a search as there are what gears/auto threads that pop up daily. This has been discussed a lot already.

Honestly the price difference is the elephant in the room. I am hoping with a cheaper gear swap I will realize the gain over a more expensive mod...

I know I sound like a broken record but a converter makes a significant difference.

But a converter won't help much at 30-80 unless you're saying use that to compensate for poor launch?

A converter will make the car an animal in both launching the car and rolling out. And with the right tires and suspension will yank the front wheels.

A little bit of a broken record. But more of one that's stuck on a song that you like.
