Recommended gears for Procharged 5.0

Hello forums,

I am going to be procharging my '12 5.0 soon and I am wondering what you all recommend for gears i.e. 3.73/4.10s. Please give me some details too if you don't mind!

From what a lot of hard core 5.0 guys have been saying, the gear of choice for 5.0 automatics are 3:31's and 3:55 if your manual. I hope you got a good pair of slicks and lower control arms because your gonna need all the help keeping that traction to the ground with your power. Lol

Sweet your supercharged super envious bro!

Oh isn't that a great way to learn. So you think 3.55s are the highest you'd go with my listed goals? I have 3.31s right now. At what point would 3.73s be necessary?

I just own a little 3.7 and the best gear options for us are apparently different. I have 3:73 gears on my 3.7 and love them but I also an automatic and about 112 less HP. Lol. If I'm not mistaken some 5.0 guys were saying the fastest 5.0's were running 3:31 gears for automatics. I thought for manuals it was 3:55 gears but I could be wrong on that. It had something to do with how the 5.0's transmission and 3:31 gears seemed to work best for it.

I would think having a manual supercharged car with 3:73 gears your first and second gear would be real quick. Plus with that power keeping traction must be a real issue for ya

Well this will be the first force induced car I have ever owned, so it will be a learning experience most of the way. I am just trying to start early, get all the parts together and bam have it ready to go. So I get advice where i can so I can pass it along to others, like a few on my friends in town that have the 5.0 as well.

Yea I have been on that site a few times, I guess I didn't really realize it was for non SVT cars lol. Although, I have quite a few SVT/Ford Racing performance parts now.. I'll go log in and check it. Thanks again man! Oh if you are ever looking for parts hit me up, I just started my own (completely my own) business to help get parts, performance or otherwise for people on here and other sites as well across all brands.

Here's my thought, why not install the Procharger first and then see if you like the 3.31's? This way you're not having to do it more than once. And have you considered the Paxton? There's more tech support for it and it's cheaper. It's a lot more popular than the Procharger.

Go 331's. Anything higher is too short for a FI car and you'll blow through the power band so quickly and have traction problems rather than a longer pull and letting the blower eat through the now super broad power band.

Well there's two of us "GB's" on here lol, but I agree with the other one, on a manual FI car I can't really imagine going with anything shorter than 3.31's, you would run out of gear quickly and you'd always roast the tires under 3rd gear

Yea it would appear so, I really dug into some research and I have friend that used to build FI cars and he was telling me that he always had the best results with Prochargers. That was just an opinion so I looked into them and the new I1 uses less boost to create more power which I thought was pretty amazing, and this way I can keep my Boss IM and my Kooks headers if the turbo route was the option. but no worries I still have tons of parts to buy off of you. Speaking of which I will email you with a purchase request.
