Sloppy Steeda Triax shifter

Hey,

Does anyone here have one on their 2011-2013's?

I have one in a 2012 that has gotten really sloppy after a year and a half. The reverse lockout is not working correctly and 2nd gear is a bi**h when cold. Wasn't like this before.

I haven't taken it apart yet to see what's going on.

Thanks, any help appreciated.

Are you sure that's the shifter and not the transmission itself?

Could be. What do you think? I know that the reverse lockout is part of the shifter. There is a spring inside.

Do you have one of these shifters? I've been reading your posts (great build), but you don't have this year Mustang.

You need a stiffer reverse lock out spring. Thats all

I appreciate the comments. I'm interested in hearing from folks that actually have the shifter and the MT82 transmission (bounding my year) and if they have ever had these problems and solved them.

I'm looking at an MGW shifter now but would like to make what I have work for now. This is my DD.

I posted this to the 2011-2014 forum.

Ok, I guess I'll have to pull it off and see what's up. I know there is a reverse lockout spring in there. 2nd, I don't know about. Maybe just been cold lately.

Sh***y, transmission, I acknowledge that.

I have the shifter. I had 1-2 issues and it was because I needed a stiffer spring. I would slightly press down when I shift and that was causing it to get caught on the reverse lock out. I'm positive this is your issue.

Try pressing down and shifting into second. It won't let you, so if your slightly pressing down, it gets caught a little and makes for a tough shift.

Was the shifter bracket replaced? That's mostly where the MT82s problem lies, shifter doesn't improve anything

I replaced my shifter bracket too. I'm
Almost positive his reverse lock out spring is wearing out. I get weird issues going into third now. It's not tough to get into 3rd but it makes a weird noise, also like crunch but not really. Hard to explain. I might try a mgw to see if it fixes it.

Hello,

Please email me at tim@steeda.com with your information and any photos, if you take it off. Yes, our shifter has a lifetime warranty ... not sure what is taking place with your unit.

We will get it figured out for you.

Best Regards,

TJ

Yea, it wasn't that simple. I've been thinking about it for months. My commute sucks. I loved my 2012 GT. Got tired of rowing the boat home. 410 gears didn't help.

Here's the old one. Tuned, manual, 410 gears:

I miss it around town but on the freeway the new one is better. Going to tune the new one, thinking about 373's.
