2012 GT engine problems??

Purchased this GT right off deployment went to a performance shop and got installed:
Steeda CAI cold air
BBK 90 mm Throttle Body
Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheel - 8 Bolt
Ford Racing BOSS 302 Intake Manifold
Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 Clutch
Borla XR-1 Long Tube Headers
Borla ATAK Catback Exhaust

Had alot of inital problems with bad tunes and what not. Long story short eventually had to get a new ECU and then retuned it. I started with the P-Tune and traveled about 300 miles and about 120 miles in my car threw a P0420 code. Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) and then P0430 for Bank2. Called a buddy and said it was probably because it just wouldnt pass emissions test and that was all. Took his word for it. Drove about 600 miles more on it and at a stop light started smelling the engine burning a little and the acceleration was horrible. After all the initial problems I got worried and when I got home retuned to the S-Tune and the codes went away but it just doesnt feel like the acceleration is what it should be at all. I feel like it was way faster stock. I am very new to the whole car business so Im not sure if its me or something is actually wrong. Any and all help would be great!!

Btw the exhaust still puts out a bad smell every once in a while and it was crackling a little in the first 3 gears before I changed the tune.

Like I stated any help is greatly appreciated!

This post is really hard to follow. Who tuned it? Did you take it back to the shop that did the work? What's a p-tune? Why did you need a new computer?

Sorry! I tuned it myself with a Bama tuner, the ECU didnt take the initial tune because the gear ratio which was BAMA's fault and fried the ECU, so I took it to a Ford dealership and it was covered under warranty. the performance tune. I reinstalled the street over the performance tune to see if it was that specific tune being faulty.

You tuned it yourself or you just flashed a tune from Bama in?

What you're saying is still unclear. How is a gear ratio related to frying your edu? Usually that happens because there's no batt charger hooked under tune writing and you get an undervolt.

Then you self tuned, fried your ecm and Ford, close to mitaculoudly, replaced the ecm for you free without any scrutiny. Now you have at the very least, a jacked up tune on there and at worst, you've done serious engine damage. Am I misunderstanding you.

Well that was the cause of the tune failing the first time. The ford guys said at first the ECU locked up and they couldnt fix it so they ordered a new ecu when i went to pick the car up they said that the ECU was fried. Like I said I am new too all this and Im not sure what to do next. Should I take it to a Dyno and get it tuned from someone there? Im almost 99% positive the current tune is the right one

Try reloading the stock tune and disconnecting the battery overnight. Let the ecu relearn ur driving habits. After a few hundred miles, I would reflash one of ur race tunes again. Good luck

Good luck indeed. I'd spend a little time on forums reading about how others do things. it might save you from more pitfalls that you've already fallen into. You need to back away from the car until you get some sense of how to do things right, before you break something and have to pay for it.

There is NO WAY a gear ratio setting ****ed up your ECU. There is a way, if you try to load a tune without a battery charger attached, to screw up your ECU, easy.

Of course. How would you expect a normal length mid pipe to hook up to a full length header that's three times the length of the stock manifolds?

Op should have someone who knows what they're doing look at his car. A dyno tune from a proper mustang performance shop might be a good idea just to get someone knowledgeable working on his car. I have no clue what's going on because I couldn't piece together the broken story, but long story short, if you don't have a clue what you're doing, take it to someone who does.

Are you sure you don't have an exhaust leak somewhere...after the headers were installed?

No need to mention it as it's common knowledge.
