Stock Drive Shaft vibrations

After I had my 3:73 installed i have had issues with the Drive shaft vibrations all the way trough the RPM range. I took it Ford once all they did was an oldschool 2 hose clamp balancing. Well that worked but I developed a bad squeak or rotational chirp when cold that went away as it warmed up. That noise was attributed to the dust shield on the pinion seal that was fixed and now the Drive shaft vibrations are back. Does anybody have issues with the drive shaft needing to be re balanced after being unbolted from the pinion flange?

Not rebalanced, but it may need to be rotated 90 degrees.

This type of shaft is quite sensitive to knocks and bangs. If it has been dropped, for example, it's supposed to be replaced. Hose clamp balancing, in 2014, really? Make further inquries.

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to Ford tomorrow and starting politely at first to request a new (because it's under warranty) Drive Shaft

Stock Drive Shaft vibrations

I agree that the "fix" they implemented is far from the best way to correct the issue. IMO, if you changed the gear you should have done an AL drive shaft. The stock 2 piece is heavy and weak by comparison. You end up saving ~ 20 lbs of unsprung weight which is worth close to 2 tenths. I went with a DSS one, but $700 is a bit steep when compared to what I paid for my Ford Racing drive shaft for my 2002. That being said, I'm glad I spent the $, it's totally worth it IMO.

The Dynotech. Drive Shaft is in the near future, but until then I want Ford to fix this issue as a mater of principle. Have you had any issues with wheel hop?

No wheel hop, but I've done the full suspension on my car.

I agree with the principal part, but sometimes, it's just not worth the headache....

The stocker is sometimes noisy but it's still pretty strong. Lots of suprcharged car run stock. It is fuss proof because it doesn't need any measuring for pinion angle and unless bent, it's usually vibe free.

duly noted. I've got a FRPP suspension I installed but still have stock Control arms for quietness. There is a little bit of wheel hop only seen in the Burnout mark.

Stock Drive Shaft vibrations

I wouldn't worry about NVH by changing the LCAs. I have Steeda billet poly/spherical LCAs and the competition (spherical) upper and I have 0 added NVH....but you do want to drench the spherical side in dry lube before installing them and then go back periodically to make sure they stay lubed.

I also have Steeda Ultralite springs and Koni sports all around too. Unfortunately, I'm still on my stock tires and at an avg temp of high 30s here in NoVA, spinning happens but no wheel hop.
