Engine knock 2012gt

I've got a 2012 gt manual with 17000 miles. Just switched to synthetic. No mods whatsoever. I noticed a loud knocking when I accelerate that I've never heard before. It's right around 3000 rmp. I was thinking it might be because I just put 87 in, I don't know what the previous owner ran. Also, the traction control kicked in when I got the tires spinning on a wet road the other day. It shook the rear end pretty good. Maybe something came loose underneath? Any help would be appreciated.

Got an appointment with the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully it's not something terrible.

Synthetic 5w-20. Fram filter. The dealer hooked it up and said everything was fine. The knock is a little softer today. I don't know if that's because I'm getting used to it.

I might have to look into a mechanic in the area or take it to another dealer. I bought it used about a month ago. There were no reported issues with it.

Absolutely without a doubt take it to a dealer assuming you still have the factory warranty. Make sure you have the proper amount of oil in there and put in what the oil cap says to as far as viscosity and that the oil meets the minimum Ford Specification. Too much oil can be harmful too.

I don't know if 87 octane is OK per the manual. I use 91 minimum and try to use 93 whenever possible.

You probably already know but the rear end shake is called wheel hop and is common in wet conditions especially with stock suspension.

Good Luck I hope it is nothing. However an engine knock has to be something.

Thanks for the info! I'll do what I can from the garage and definitely take it to another dealer.
