Quick question about data logging

Whats up guys, ive got a 2013 GT/CS that is stock motor-wise. Its got 16k miles and im getting ready to do a few upgrades.

Im going to add a lethal H pipe, steeda cai, and a tune by shaun from AED.

I understand that shaun prefers a datalog before he will consider tuning my car which is competely understandable. My question is... I guess i will need to install my cai, h pipe and a tune that comes with my sct? Havent purchased an sct yet... Im just wondering how to obtain a tune or if any kind of tune is included ... Im trying to purchase a used sct unlocked.

But the cai and cat delete will require some sort of tune. Am i correct in saying that i will want to datalog the car with the mods added on for shaun, or can i datalog it stock so he can see my
Motor is problem free so he can issue me a baseline tune to work with?

Sorry guys im new in the tuning department. Any advice you can give me is very much appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Data log it stock to baseline it. You can then do the same after mods and tube to see where ur car ends up. If you lose hp then u know tweaks will need to be made.

Here's how basic email-tune handheld tuning works and hopefully it'll clear up your confusion;

1. An aftermarket tuning company (i.e. Bama, Steeda, AED, MPT, Lund, etc.) creates a custom tune tailored to your own vehicle and handheld tuner (i.e. SCT) (which cannot be used on any other vehicle or handheld tuner).

2. They send you the tune(s) via email. You download the tune to your computer, plug in your handheld tuner, and transfer the tune file(s) from your computer to the handheld tuner via the handheld's supplied software.

3. Next, you plug in your handheld tuner into your vehicle and from there you can load the custom tune you received from Bama, Steeda, AED, MPT, Lund, etc. or go back to stock.

...

If you purchase a used SCT handheld tuner you'll have to purchase an aftermarket tune as well (i.e. Bama and Steeda's are $150). The SCT only loads custom tunes and does other services such as data logging etc..

Thanks for clarifying 2stangz. I bought Tunes for life. Would it be better to get the canned tunes to baseline and then order a custom tune? Or is that a waste of time. Reason being is that my first 93 tune dropped my mpg. :/
