Locked SCT tuner

I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere but I searched and didn't find anything :/. My question is, I have an SCT Tuner that I used on my last mustang. (05GT). And pulled a dumba$$ move and didn't return it to stock once I got rid of it. Now it's locked to it and can't use it on my '13. Is SCT the only company capable of unlocking it for me? It'd be $150 to unlock plus $150 to re-enroll in tunes for life. $300 is almost worth just selling it and re-ordering a combo kit with steeda intake. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

If you had returned it to stock it would have been around $150 for your new tunes. If it's a couple of years old, it might be a better investment to buy a new one and get the tunes for life. I believe the tunes for life is for the Bama Tuner. Not sure on what SCT charges.

You're correct, SCT is the only company that can unlock their device for you. Your best bet is to give them a call and see what they can do for you! Usually the fee is $150 for them to unlock the device.

Let me know if we can be of any assistance with the free tunes for life program or with a new device!

I think I'm just going to end up buying a new intake/tuner combo and sell the old one. Even though it's only 2 years old. Thanks for the info and response guys! Also, Dan, is the ghost time still available for '13 models? I think I'll wanna give it a try!

Don't expect to get more than $75-$100 for that used + locked SCT tuner. They don't go for much.

No worries! I'm glad we were able to help.

Yes, the Ghost Cam tune is still available for the 2011+ GT's. The only requirements are Catless and a Manual transmission. Other than that, you're good to go!

Hope this helps! Let the Bama team know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future. They can be reached at the contact information below in my signature!

^ This is a good point. In about a Month or so the SF4 is going to be available. The SF3 is still a great advice and has been solid for years! But if you're interested in the SF4 and the next level SCT tuner, you may want to hang tight. You can't go wrong either way though!

Got a quick question for you guys. I got bbk cat deletes I wanna install. I'm gonna get it tuned once the SF4 comes out but I wanna go ahead and install the deletes just till it's tuned. How much damage will it cause running it like that? I know the cat overtemp thing will go into effect but as long as it won't hurt for a few weeks it's fine.

It will be fine for a few weeks. Your gas mileage will tank though.

I figured as much. Didn't buy a mustang for MPG anyhow lol. Will it run like **** though? Don't wanna hammer down to hear it and cause somethin to freak out. As long as it'll run okay till 3/15 when the SF4 comes out she'll be up on jacks in 15 min.

It won't run ideal until you get a tune for it.

Little update. Cats been off car now for bout 100 miles mixed highway/city driving. Still no tune. AFR holds steady around 13.8-14.2 crusing/idle. 11.8-12.1 WOT. Still no CEL. Shouldn't it be on by now???

CEL is supposed to come on. Sometimes it doesn't though, for some weird reason.
