2011 to 2014

Had a 2011 5.0 manual just got a 2014 5.0 auto. What gears do I need in the auto?

I've always been for going big (4.30 on a 2V) but with the 5.0 auto, you don't need to change them. They really aren't going to make you any faster. Put the $ toward a tune and an exhaust you like.

All 5.0 autos as far as I know are 3.15s. When I ordered my car, the dealer said there was no way to get any other gear directly from Ford.

I have a manual and it came with 373. If you plan to install a supercharger then just keep it as is.

You could also order 3.55 with a manual. I'm talking strictly autos as that's what the OP asked about.

Thanks for the tip. They use this on autos too since they are good for street cars. I am not going FI or turbo. Instead will be upgrading to CJ intake and stage 3 cams.

Well you could go with a 4.30 too for the street but you really don't need it with the auto. You are looking at a $400-$700 cost to gain literally almost nothing. For that price you can do a tune and some exhaust and actually see some real gains. The only thing you accomplish in an auto with gears is being in 4th at the traps vs being in 3rd...the times and speeds are just about the same. On a manual it's a different story, I drove a track pack car and loved it but went for the auto for the wife's sake and haven't regretted it at all.
