Just got my Borla S-Type Axle Backs on. I love the deep Muscle car rumble, while still sounding quiet enough when cruising.

+1 - Borla atack too, this is music. Sounds increased a little bit when I added Hypertech programming with the premium fuel setup, right from cold startup. Even better !

Yes, there is something different with the sound at quite acurately 2000 RPM, but not as wide as 1800-2200 rpm. I noticed this on my last 4 different cars with Borla already. Even the V6 Shogun did this, and 2 Transam V8s did too. I always thought it was a inherent car design property that creates a harmonic amplified by Borla.

Noticed the same on my 2012 GT, dont wory anymore.

And yes, cold start is louder, gets smoother quickly after.

Had the Roush AB on my 2014 GT and now have the GT500 AB. The Roush was a little louder than I wanted and the GT500's are about perfect.

I have a 2013 GT with the Track Pkg. I'm running the Borla S-Type Axel back system on my mustang. This exhaust sounds mean... deep and it roars! Love it

Roush axel back resonator delete. The best and loud. Trust me. Been asked by several at car shows what kind of exhaust is that and told it sounds way better by several than borla.

I have a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L with the dual Roush muffler system . Love the sound in all 6 gears. Even when it idles it's a head turner.

Magnaflow completion cat back exhaust. Love low rev sound. A little to raspy in high revs. And bad drone at 70 mph in 6th gear. But gets attention from everyone around when you stomp it going by them.

I have Borla S-type axle backs and the Boss 302 side pipes with QTP electric cutouts, otherwise it is stock. It is already an awesome setup but I'm going to add Kooks long tubes and the catted H-pipe next.

Magnaflow #12229 with 4" Quad tips ... Subtle and deep... not raspy ... no ear plugs required.

What exhaust do you have? And what do you like about it?

I'm happy with my Ford Racing GT500 axle backs but damn that quad set up looks sweet!
The mufflers are cheap enough at Summit - where did you find the quad tips?

GT500 axle backs.
  • CHEAP
  • EASY TO INSTALL - great fit (even uses the oem plastic clips to mate 2 pieces together)
  • LOUDER than stock - but not d0uchebag, show off, wake up neighbors loud
  • 4" polished TIPS fit perfectly - don't stick out too far
  • OEM Look - same size & shape as stock mufflers and have similar "FORD" stamp on them

Steeda X-Pipe and Catback. aka: Magnaflow x-pipe and Borla Touring catback.

Nice, better than stock sound. No droning on the highway (steeda version apparently)
Gets nice and loud when you want it. doesnt piss off the neighbors when coming home or leaving.

I have MBRP street catback. It was really cheap, only 520$ for the axlebacks and the midpipe, but it might be the best exhaust ive ever heard on a mustang. It is really quiet during normal acceleration with audible exhaust crackling in between shifts. When it is launched from a stop, it opens up LOUD. I cant even imagine what the race version sounds like.
The best part about it is that it is quiet when you want it to be and screaming when its time to let loose.

I got the aluminum version, but investing in the stainless version or the black version would have been nice.

Started out with resonator delete's with stock mufflers, sou fed good, then went to GT500 mufflers, sounded better and now I have lethal O/R H with resonator deletes and gt500 mufflers.
sounds good at idle and above 2500.
thinking about installing 3" dynomax bullets as resonators to mellow it out just a tad.

Mine are homemade. I can't afford to spend a lot of money right now, and I also just wanted to try building my own. I bought some mufflers on Craig's list for $50. Got some 4" exhaust pipe from a buddy that had some laying around from a bus he worked on. Cut open muffler and pipe out at the first baffle plate. ( I'm guessing that's what it's called). I'm a crappy welder so same friend welded in the new pipe. Sandblasted then painted with high temp paint. I like the look, and it has a deep sound to it. Not any louder though. I have the borla ataks as well. Very similar to roush but not as raspy. Perfect imo because they're super loud outside the car but very quiet inside the cab.
