BAMA Tune question

OK, I am getting the last of my phase 1 parts in Wednesday. I have a question about tune. I have a daily driver and am trying to decide what tune to run for everyday use. Below are my upgrades and my tune options. looking forward to input. Also as a follow up is it ok to switch tunes often or should you keep a tune running for a certain amount of time?

Upgrades:
Off road H pipe
Muffler deletes
Airraid CAI
Barton short shifter

Tune options:
89 Sport tune
93 Performance
93 Race

I liked to run 93 Performance. 93 Race was a little aggressive for a DD tune but many people run it regardless. Yes, you can switch tunes as often as you'd like.

Very cool! I'm glad to hear that Stage 1 of your build is just about complete. Post up some pictures of your Mustang, we'd love to check it out!

As far as the Bama tune goes, this is entirely up to you. We offer a couple different tune options so that we have something for everyone. Every single person drives their Mustang differently so it's hard to just offer one tune. However, I'm a big fan of the 93 Race tune. I run this on my 2011 GT year round. I don't drive the car every day, but I put a ton of miles on in the summer and I keep the 93 Race tune loaded at all times. This tune just fits my style of aggressive driving.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with running the 93 Street or Performance tune either. I would recommend testing every tune out and seeing what best fits your style of driving and habits. You can switch the tunes as many times as you would like!

I hope this helps. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future!

-Dan

This is my DD, and by DD, I mean I drive her about 3k a month. 9k on the odo now and bought in Nov.
I had the 93 Hybrid with ghost cam for the first 4k, and switched to the 93 race with ghost cam to check out the diff at he track. Haven't been back yet, but it pulls better up high now. In fact, hard to keep tires planted if I get on it above 4k rpm.
I honestly liked the hybrid better on a daily basis. If the track times don't warrant this race tune, the hybrid is going right back in!
Very happy with all of them tho.
Troy

Never run anything else besides the 93R tune. No issues.

When I first got my tune I was running the 93 Race tune since I rarely drove it. I recently decided to test the 93 Performance tune and it works just about the same. Biggest difference I noticed was shifting was a lot smoother/easier. Less aggressive really which might be more ideal for a DD. Everything else in regards to pick up and all felt essentially the same. Just a bit smoother of a ride.

I started on the 93R and swapped to the 93hybrid after 4 months. I think the hybrid is the better tune - more lower end than the 93R, with nearly the same high end kick. I don't manage to do much WOT driving in traffic, so I prefer a strong mid-range (3k-5500ish).

My .02 is to try the hybrid for a DD, but do the 93R if you think that WOT isn't strong enough (which I doubt will happen).

I just did a search JD2STACKS and it's apparently a mixture of the bama Street, performance and race tune. It gives you the low end of the street, the midrange of the performance and the top end power or the race tune. Will be requesting mine tomorrow to try it out.

When I called BAMA, they explained that the hybrid was a combo of the race tune high end with the performance tune mid-range. I've got nothing but good things to say about it, as do most other guys who run it. You'll have to ask them specifically for it.

Ideally, I'd love to run a hybrid tune with the ghost cam idle, but I have to keep my cats for Illinois emissions.

Wow. Did they say why?

Maybe they're trying to come up with a different fancy gimmick.

They said all it was, was a different throttle setting and it's pretty much incorporated in the race tune.

Well If that's true them it makes previous tunes made be American muscle look like lies. In another thread I viewed while utilizing the search function, I saw a post written by American muscle stating the the hybrid Tune was a mix of the street, performance and race tune. Gives you the low end of street, mid of performance and high end of the race tune. Sounds like it was more than just a different throttle setting.

Out of respect for AM and to clarify further, AM does not make the tunes. They just sell tunes from Bama Performance. However, AM representatives do advertise and provide information for the Bama tunes on forums. All the information they provide is from Bama or their own word of mouth.

Just didn't want AM's rep to take a hit (other people will see the post above), AM is a great company.

Interesting as I just had them revise my 91H tune and got it 3 days ago which lacks the power it should have imo but they never mentioned any of this in the email. Doesn't really matter I'm ready to try others now.

I don't know about American muscle, but I have been less than impressed with bama performance customer service. They did fix the issue I was having but seemed like they were unwilling to help at first. Telling me to "return car to stock and take it to Ford" to diagnose a problem that was going away when I returned it to stock. I feel like I wasted 150 bucks at this point. When I called them on the phone the guy I spoke to didn't mention anything about ditching the tune but did say it takes two or three days to write the tune. Then I get an email back the next day saying they don't do it anymore. Just sounds fishy to me.

BAMA Tune question

Yea A.M. is supposedly cleaning up ther act when it comes to Bama & customer support or so they say on other forms. I haven't had to much of a problem as far as customer service goes but I don't think they're as good at tuning as others who manage to safely bring out more power.
