May 2014 5.0 Magazine 5.0 Bolt On's Article

This outta settle the argument about CAI's not adding any HP to a stock 5.0 with no other mod using a BBK CAI.

Base HP 5.0 No Add On's: 367.59

5.0 with BBK CAI Added: 385.79

With SCT tune: 392.70

With Borla Axlebacks: 399.53, this includes Tune, Cai.

If anyone has this magazine and I am wrong with what ive read let me know. Some of these charts are difficult to understand, for me at least.

All's I knows is the dragstrip tells me I'm making 439 horses at the flywheel, through the factory box 'n paper and no mods but Procal.

My view is still this: You need to seriously get at the VE of the engine to see any gains from an intake. So, that's a heavy tune, raised rev limits, Boss manifold, exhaust work, cams, FI or gas, or similar kinds of things.

That's just my opinion and I cannot comment on this test, since I haven't read it. I'm curious about it though. I don't judge; I'd like to see the methodology used.

Was the Dyno with the hood up or down or was it outside or inside?

Well, found the article online. Problem I have is they haven't provided any of the information needed to decipher the validity of the claims. No baro/weather data, no cooling info, no octane used, no confirmation the dyno runs were performed under similar conditions. At least they gave us AFR but, without knowing what fuel is used, that's not that relevant either.

It is a bit difficult to accept that this article basically contradicts everything learned about the Coyote over 3 years. It claims a very solid gain for CAI alone, says AB mufflers added power and points to the tune as only minimally affecting results.

I can confirm that the addition of a CAI with revised tune adds 75 lb ft and nearly 90 HP to an otherwise stock 2011 GT with Vortech blower...I was amazed at the gain and it was so simple๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž
