2014 exhaust that doesn't stick out

I'm tired of watching YouTube videos and seeing the exhaust come out a GOOD 4-6inches out from the rear dang valence! Can anyone please tell me why this happens because I notice it's with many different types! And can u clarify for me, someone previously wrote that the flowmaster outlaws don't stick out? Roush is the sounds I'm looking for BUT it comes out a LOT past the bumper.. Me '99 & '06 were the same way! Had flows on the 99 and Mac on the 06 and the right pipe was off by about 2-3 inches.. UGH!

If it doesn't stick out enough the heat from the exhaust will warp the plastic rear valence

Sometimes if you have an aftermarket catback (over the axle pipes) and mid-pipe, you can push them further back, pulling the tips in a little. Otherwise, an axleback is not very adjustable with how far the tips stick out. There's only so much play in the hangers.

Are you looking for Flowmaster Outlaws? They don't tend to stick out very far at all. You can check out more of the customer submitted pictures on our site for Outlaws. They're pretty snug!

Shane

And on the roush you can adjust the tips accordingly

Nah, the OEM valance won't warp from the heat. Only crappy aftermarket body kits should warp. And having them flush/protrude out doesn't change the temperature around the valance anyways!

But back to the OP, you can adjust axle backs a few inches either way before you tighten it up. I've never seen an exhaust sticking half a foot out of the valance, but I'll take your word for it. Lol

Thx guy's! Yea I might've gotten a lil out of hand with the half a foot, I was frustrated with seeing SO many vids with uneven pipes or pipes sticking out a realistic 4in.. I just want pipes that are flush with the line of my rear end, like the stock look or even a lil more in than those.. I do like the GT500's look there buddy, and Shane yes I really do like the outlaw look! That I think is the perfect length for me! That said I'm just a tiny bit worried the outlaws might be JUST a hair too loud for me after the initial few weeks.... However I do love the sound from the outlaws, it's the closest thing to the old school sound.. I like the Roush too but worried they might not be loud enough and I've heard a lil "raspy rattle" from the Roush when being revved up..

The roush does have little bit of a raspy sound come out on a rev. It's definitely loud though. On a cold start everyone on the 3rd floor of my building can here me, so I can never sneak out. The other thing I like is there doesn't seem to be a lot of drone. I listened to a lot of clips before I chose and for me I loved the roush, but they all sound nice because it's a 5.0 : )

I agree scc2014gt.. I've looked at hundreds of clips easy! I do really like the Roush and outlaw by flowmaster.. Those are the 2 I've narrowed it down to but I fear, due to all of the clips and pics I've seen of the Roush, that the tips will stick out further than I'd like! Haha I know it sounds tedious but I've ALWAYS been a HUGE stang fan and one big reason was the exhaust was always so flush and clean with the body lines and it made the back end look beautiful! I always saw chevys and dodges having sagging exhaust or pipes that pointed down towards the ground and it just looked like crap to me! NOTHING'S prettier than a '93 cobra back end with some shiny pipes JUST slightly angled upward..

A good muffler shop should be able to adjust them to any length you want

I've seen some clips like the OP is talking about. Seems like most of them were the Borla before they came out with the updated version for the '13 &'14's.

LOL at the comment in that thread. Haha I'm guilty of this. Though, I think at the top (which is where you're supposed to measure it from, gentlemen. lmao), it sticks out of the valance less than an inch.

2014 exhaust that doesn't stick out

I had the 11-12 borla S Types and they stuck out way too far. Told Borla i was unhappy with the look and they let me exchange them for the 13-14 style. Heres a b4 and after... Er actually after and b4 since they attached out of order...

Here is our exhaust system:

A less restrictive exhaust path enhances performance, and this axle-back Steeda system features an authoritative tone with minimal drone, direct bolt-in installation and a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Stainless Steel construction with polished rolled tips for a great appearance.

Note: Saves 22 pounds over your stock exhaust system!

Let me know if I can help you with any questions or provide additional support ... you can reach me at tim@steeda.com.

Best Regards,

TJ

Do u have a video with a little more length? Can't fully get the sound of it in that clip, thx. And to be honest with u, the main reason I probably wouldn't get the steeda exhaust is due to price! I've always loved your products and obviously y'all put effort into your research and development! Hey if u ever need a black on black leather, 6 speed GT to put your steeda exhaust on so I can put a ton of videos on the web for u by ALL means just say the word! LOL

Does anyone have the MAC axle backs? I've had MAC on 2 of my last stangs but haven't seen any videos that are just that, they are modded out so I don't know what it will sound like by itself..
