Another exhaust question

Hey everyone,

I have a 2011 GT an I have the GT 500 exhaust right now. I want to keep the same exhaust but make it louder. My question is if I delete the cats an resonators do I have to get a tune? I plan on going to AM an getting a Bama tune soon but not right now. Will doing the cat an resonator delete hurt the car or help?

Thanks

if you delete the cats you need a tune for sure

I hear ya! I had the GT500 Mufflers on my 2011 GT for a while and I really liked them. I had the same complaint as you though, they're just a little bit to quite for my liking. Deleting the Cats and Resonators you'll definitely notice a huge increase in sound and power. You won't need a re-tune to delete the resonators, but you will need to be tuned if you're running no cats.

You could start with the resonators and see how it sounds to you since you won't have to tune for that modification. Then when you're ready to tune you can install an O/R X-Pipe also!

Hope this helps!

you could also get a set of over axle pipes (maybe go up to 3") which also deletes the resonators and gives a deeper grumble

Just add o/r x pipe and you will love the sound. You can find clips on YouTube.

I've got the same exhaust and deleted resonators. It helped the sound a bit but made a little more popping noise on decel. Then I added an H-pipe but left my cats on. I don't think that it helped make it louder, just smoother than it was before. If you go catless with an H-pipe or X-pipe that will certainly wake it up but you'll need to tune the car or you'll get crazy error codes haha
