Has anyone painted the 13/14 headlights?

I am trying to complete my blackout look, but only one thing really standing in my way, the headlights. I know Raxiom has the smoked halos, but I'm really not feeling them. I love the look of the stock headlights and I am wondering if anyone out there has attempted painting the chrome inside to made them a bit darker?

I'm curious too. I know other cars people put them in the oven to loosen up the adhesive then paint. Seen some that look great. Haven't seen it on this car yet.

that's something i've been wanting to do on my 2011, when I owned an Acura TL, I had custom headlights, and they made a huge difference, much more aggressive.

no actual experience, but from what I understand, the later Mustang headlights don't react the same to popping them in the oven for a few minutes, hear they are a real pain in the *** to open........

Sounds like I might be SOL then. Doesnt seem like there is much on the topic, probably because it is more trouble than its worth.

I'm in the process of retrofitting my 2012 headlights and if Ford used the same sealant in the 2013+ headlights, it'll take several rounds of heating then prying but it is doable. Just takes patience.

I don't know how you feel about covers, but with my GTS, you can still see the LED's, obviously not as bright, but I think it looks cool.

That looks pretty clean man. I like the look I was mainly worried about the light output. How are the bright are the headlights with the covers?

Why paint when you can easily install a film. You can go as dark as you want and I you don't like it, you can revert back in a minute.

Too many options : ). Part of it's my brothers fault. He has his stock lights painted on his 350z and it looks amazing. I think my best bet it a probably to go with something on the outside or the raxioms. All the time in the world to play around and figure it out I guess. I'll post pics when I am done either way : )

Not bright, but if you lift the hood, they come right off for night use.

I'm in the process of converting my 11 halogens to 13/14 HID's and the previous owner failed to mention the headlights I bought were sprayed. Definitely go with a film. Much easier to deal with if you change your mind down the road.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I got my answer. I think I might start with the covers and if the raxioms grow on me I'll eventually go that route.

2013 GT Stock HID should I too change?

Not tring to Hi-Jack the thread..I think it fits in with it..but..I have a 2013 GT with the stock OEM HID's. Would like to go with a darker look since my car is Black. Has anyone here swapped over to the American Muscle lights? Better? Worse? Same? Gone Tint?
I dont want to loose the OEM quality of lighting.. I am afraid if i tint or go to after market I wont be able to see as well at night.

man don't replace real hids with the non hid raxioms, that's a huge step backwards, I don't think the raxioms look all that great anyways

Based on everyone's feedback I think the covers might be the best way to go. It seems they are easy to pop on and off. So during the day you get your nice black out look and night if you need the visibility you can pop them right off. The film looks good too, but I like the idea of being able to take the covers off and on at a moments notice.

I think film with a very light almost non noticable tint will look clean, not to mention protect the headlights from chips and discoloration, there's nothing better than OEM headlights especially if they're HID. I'm gonna actually tint mine

I agree. Im not doing anything at the moment because dumping my money into a wheel setup that I hope to have in the next week or two. If you do a light tint on yours I would be interested to see. Post Pics!
