Dyno tunes a thing of the past?

Basically from what I've read on here it looks like everyone is going with a BAMA tune for the most part. That leads me to wonder are dyno tunes not the way to go with these motors or just not the most popular.I used to have an Ls2 GTO,and it was the other way around most guys went with a custom dyno tune versus a handheld tuner.Opinions?

No point in doing a dyno tune with basic bolt ons. Thats why the majority of people are going with a canned tuned. Your choice in the end though.

BigBlue5.0,

Dyno tunes truly aren't necessary for a bolt-on Mustang. Reputable tuners, like Bama are able to easily dial in any bolt-on Mustang without the use of a dyno. As they have with thousands of customers already!

Dyno tunes are even less necessary for 11+ Mustangs as well. Since these Mustangs are equipped with factory wideband sensors. There's no more need for a wideband reading from a dyno. Unlike your previous LS2 GTO, which was only equipped with narrow band sensors from the factory.

Don't forget, if you ever end up building your Mustang to be more radical with Boost and/or a built engine, the hand held tuner can still be used to store a dyno tune as well. So it will be useful for you from here on out!

I'm still a little confused about these tuners as far as how they work.If I order one from you guys (AM) the site says it comes with 3 free tunes but then it also says when you get a new mod just give you guys a call and you'll update the tune. Now does that count as 1 of the 3 free tunes or what I'm a little confused about the retuning process I guess is what I'm trying to say lol.

It means it comes with 3 different tunes initially. You can get unlimited updated tunes after that for free.

If you want to be slow and I mean SLOW go with bama. I'm almost ready to jump on the LS bandwagon, to many mustang owners do not have a clue about about stuff.

I would choose one of these before Bama.

I have a Bama tune, I'm relatively happy with it, but I know in leaving power on the table, but Idc as I don't wring the car out. buddy of mine had Revolution Auto in MD tune his 11 on their dyno today, jba long tubes with o/r x pipe and jlt cai, he made 437/419 seems a bit high for those mods but he's ecstatic with Revolution

I want a handheld because my mods are gonna come slowly and I'm not gonna want to pay every time to get it retuned on the dyno for every new mod ya know what I mean.

All of the big name tuners will give you free revisions every time you make a change.

Bama doesn't make tunes for people who wanna be the fastest. They make tunes for the masses which is fine for people that want a tune on a DD or a weekend driver. You want the most then go with a tuner that will give you more. People bash Bama for not being the best tuner for performance but the truth is they are reliable and customer service is great which is fine for the people that choose them. They aren't a bad tuner.

My Tuner

I have had Brenspeed for the 05 and now the 2013.
Ive been happy with both of them. Plus any questions I had they were happy to help.

Alerotz --- I'm curious about your brenspeed tune as I recently ordered a SC and tune from them. Have you had to data log very often to get the tune dialed in?

I've never had a problem from day one.
No updates, but I did my mods first and once.
Only thing I ever did was bounce between the three levels.
I run level one now and noticed a difference. This summer I'll try level 2.

On the 05. I stayed with level 2 as a daily driver. I felt it was more crisp and quicker than level 3.

Does that help?

No that's good to hear. I've been debating on not even uploading the Brenspeed tune and just taking the car in to get it dyno'd. I've had a couple of conversations with the guys at Brenspeed and they seem pretty confident with their product. I just don't want to be "one of the few" who've had problems down the road

I know on the 05 they asked for a code off a module under the hood.
On the 2013 I don't remember.
I tell you this so you can be ready to give them auto info from your car.

Yeah so far just the PCM code and current mods is all they've asked for
