12 GT to 09 R/T

Well guys, I finally got my dream car, a Challenger six speed. I traded my 12 GT six speed for a 09 R/T six speed. Here is why I did this. My 12 was a GT Premium Kona Blue with medium stone interior. It had a ford racing tune, K&N airfilter and pypes pype bomb axelbacks. I liked the stang a lot other than the blue was hell to keep clean in Missouri and its a little small for me (not bad but tight) The 09 Challenger I got is Torred Red with Black leather, heated seats, navi, and a sun roof. Plus the previous owner had full exhaust (long tube headers) a mopar cold air intake and a BBK 85mm TB. The guys at the dealer said the previous owner bought it new and servied it there every time, they also said the car was dyno tuned in Kansas and put around 400 to the wheels. (I would love to get the dyno sheet..) Now performance wise it is slower... but not as much as I though it would be (mostly due to it being full bolt on) takes corners like a boat and the brakes are decent for its size but not as good as the stang. I wondered if I would regret it after I did it and so far I haven't. I love the looks and don't really miss the speed (half the fun is shifting through the gears) All in all I like the stangs but I just personally love the challengers. I wont delete my account so if any one has questions for me on the 02 auto to manual swap just PM me.

Here is my YouTube, it has my previous stangs and the challenger. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC24mwWOhMpF2gcrFe4j40Aw

You got rid of a coyote for a RT challenger. If those are the only mods. There is no way its making 400 to the tires. **** with a blower on safe boost they make 450-460

Aye aye captain...lol I wanted a challenger too because I love the look of the car (big fan actually) but I ended up buying a Stang. I've heard these cars can beat Stangs with a tune but have not witnessed it. Great looking car BTW.

The new Challenger R/T runs about the same times as a 2v......... Way too much weight.

They are just heavy cars. :/ they do look like true hot rods though. I love my Stang and I would only upgrade to a stingray...just waiting for the kids to get their own cars. I will be giving my Stang to one of them.

Nice looking car man, I drove a new Camaro ss and a 392 hemi challenger both six speeds before I bought the mustang. The challenger is definitely the best looking and most comfortable for long hauls but even the 392 wasn't as quick as the stang. Very nice cars though.

Was gonna buy the challenger before I bought my 5.0 a few years ago. The r/t when I test drive it was just just too sluggish. Granted those cars are beautiful as hell. I guess I compromised a little beauty for more speed. Still haven't looked back though.

My dad had a 2010 Challenger SRT8 and now has a 13 Charger R/T (he has ADD when it comes to cars). While they aren't as fast as a new 5.0 I never thought they were lacking power. In fact I like the way the Charger accelerates better. You just pin the gas coming on the highway and your at 120 before you know it. There is little noise, it feels like a non event.

Its a great looking Challenger but you probably wont get much love here but if your happy I'm happy for ya. Everyone is always after more horsepower however the only true place you can use it is the strip so I think with the HP your Challenger has it will do just fine.

If it was me I would have bought a 2014 Challenger instead of moving backwards because here in Florida you can get $5000 discounts on Challenger R/T's.

Ah some one did go to my YouTube channel lol. That's my grandpas 70 455 GTO he bough brand new. Its the car I grew up in and love, the challenger is the closest thing to it now days.

I know the challenger is slower but I really don't care, every sense they closed KCIR I haven't had a good place to really open a car up (other than the corn field roads that are not very good here)

I lowered my payments a good amount by going back to 09 and insurance is cheaper than the stang, that's why I didn't purse a new one.

All in all, I'm not a Ford, Mopar or Chevy guy, I'm a muscle car guy. I love them all in there own ways.

I also have a 2010 SRT8 with some mild mods (cam / ported intake / exhaust / custom tune)
Dyno'd 425 RWHP. Nothing spectacular, but have surprised many 5.0's
Vid right after my cam swap. At 1:29 is after I deleted my cats.

I'll admit an RT with a shaker and Hemi Orange paint is one sick looking ride. I can't deny that it's a pretty car. Definitely the most "muscle car" type car out of the three. It's big, heavy, has a lot of power, and looks like it wants to eat a Civic.

Eek an R/T tho?? That's a hell of a downgrade in power, it's sad to say but a 3.7 V6 Stang will blow the doors off it. While the Challenger is a beautiful comfy car, that's about it, maybe a 11+ SRT would've been a more respectable trade

Looks good, where in MO do you live? I never got to go to KCIR before they decided to turn it into an empty field. Bums me out seeing pics of the deserted track.

I used to live in Raytown and could hear the races out there, sad it closed it was the first and only track I ever raced on.

I'm in Blue Springs. It was a very short drive to the strip. The last time I was there was Ford Fest in my 02 Mustang GT.

A stock R/T yah but this one runs very healthy for its size. I know for a fact it would blow the doors off a 05-09 GT auto, the last one I drove was a dog. In all reality I have never raced anyone on the street (other than family in the middle of nowhere) and I have had no one try to race me in any of my cars.

A big thing is that there is not many 6 speed challengers where I live, they are all autos. When I bought it there was a total of 4 manuals within 250 miles of me. There is so many equations weather a car is faster than another, the major one being who can drive what they have.

I have a '13 GT 6 speed and I also have a '13 Charger R/T with Track Pack. I have to say while the Gt is obviously a different car with the pedal down the R/T is hands down a nicer car. It's Big, incredibly roomy, Very powerful and it beyond loaded with useful options. The interior is way more comfortable and it even sounds just as good with a full Flowmaster exhaust. The Audio system and Bluetooth system are light years ahead of the Mustang and I didn't have to pay for Recaro seats upgrade to get comfy suede seats. It's all standard. Plus the wheels are way nicer than Mustangs ugly options.

I'm a huge fan of the Challenger. I would love to own one but the only thing stopping me is 2 things.

1. Lack and ease of mods to go faster. Lack of Community support like the Coyote has.

2. The body design is stale and really due for a facelift.

Next year the rumors are hot for the new Challenger and Barracuda and I'm waiting for the press release!
