I just purchased the AMR gloss black rims 18X9 with the Nitto-Invo tire. OMG! What an amazing tire. They ride and corner so good. The best thing is they hook up extremely well.

Go Nitto

I can't help but sometimes think that, given Ford had installed a different tire from the factory, you name it, we'd get it in our heads that there was something better.

Example: "Dude, you should get the Pirelli P-zeros. HUGE improvement over the Michelin Pilot Sports that come on it."

Mine have 18K + on them and they still have lots of tread left. I like the pzero neros for regular driving so far but they don't grip too good.

PZeros wear out too quick, don't have great grip and the set on this car "chunked" meaning little chunks break out of the tires. Comparing the ride and grip to the PSS, no comparison. We shall see how long these last, but the PZeros were done for at 15k miles

BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2
IMO....best bang for buck!!! Most places are $200/tire. I had P-Zeros on stock and they wore out quick. I did some research and found these and i am real happy. They hook and handle awesome...i ran a 12.7 with them and my car is basically stock. I just bought two new ones for the front.

You aren't driving it right then. You should get about 10-15k on the p-zeros if driving it like you stole it.

If you cannot drive appropriately, please hand the keys to someone who can. :p

I can appreciate the manliness, but I plan on keeping this car for a long while and would like to move forward with the updates and mods instead of sinking money into tires on a regular basis.

The best ranked tires by far for the Mustang are the Continental PureContact DWS. They have a new one that is ranked #2 by TireRack, called the PureContact with EcoPlus Technology. I am trying to decide on whether or not to get them right now. I think my PZeros might have an issue with one of the belts. It will tug left or right occasionally and feels a little squirrelly at times. I am taking a 5000 mile trip in two weeks and have concerns. Trouble is, I have 25,000 mile on them, but plenty of tread left.

Stock pirellis are awful as they just spin due Pzero grip lol. Next mod for me will be SVE drifts 18x10 and Nitto invos. Good luck deciding.

Mickey Thompson. If you have a choice between the invos and the street comps. Go with the street comps bud.

Just a couple comments from my research... My Pzero All Seasons lasted around 15k (vs the 45k rating)

Pzero summer's are a middle of the pack tire here:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP

Or dead last here:
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test

PSS rate highest in both surveys. And unlike the Pzero's that feature no treadlife warranty, the PSS have a 30k warranty

Saw the BFG Comp 2 mentioned. They are top of the UHPS category. These feature better tread life (45k).

I went with the PSS... tires are here now, but waiting on new rims to be delivered.

Good links Skramblr. We went quite a bit wider with the PSS than the what we had with the stock PZero's so we expected more grip, but it is a substantial difference in both launch grip and grip in cornering. The tires are a VAST improvement from the PZero's in wet and cold conditions. I like Pirelli Tires, I just don't think the PZero is a good tire on the Mustang. The set we had wore quickly, were horrible in cold conditions and dangerous on wet roads.
If you read what road racers prefer when using a tire for street / track, the PSS is always one of the top tires suggested. Time will tell as we have had these for a short time, but so far, they have lived up to what everyone has said about them.
