New Upgrades

Had a busy weekend the past three days. Take note I'm really not that mechanically inclined when dealing with cars. To start off I took off all of the stock exhaust piping from the headers to the axle backs. Had to cut the OTA pipes cause i didn't have enough clearance with just ramps and jack stands. I installed JEGS cat deletes and their high flow pipes which also gets rid of the resonators and is an H pipe. This took several hours.

I then installed Steedas CAI which only took 15 minutes.

Finally, I uploaded the tune from Steeda and started it up with no problems.

Holy loud. Haha. I went for a drive and already had people looking, but there was clunking and extra bouncing coming from the rear when going over bumps. I went back home and found the source. Moved the OTA pipes around a little which significantly removed the clunking. Only happens now over large bumps.

The tune seemed to stutter the engine on the first drive when stepping on the throttle, but on the second drive seemed fine.

I will be checking it all on Wednesday to make sure everything is tight and in place.

Nice work Travis!
It was doing a idle relearn on your first drive. After you load a tune, you should do this to get it to learn the new setup.

Whether you are switching tunes for your 2011 2012 2013 Ford Mustang GT or just have idle issues you can try the suggestion that is right in your owners manual (this works great on our stangu.com mustang) – below is the exact wording from the manual on the 2011 2012 2013 Ford Mustang GT Idle re-learn instructions:

1. With the vehicle at a compete stop, set the parking brake.

2 Put the gearshift in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral position (manual transmission), turn off all accessories and start the engine.

3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.

4. All the engine to idle for at least one minute.

5. Turn the A/C on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.

6. Drive your Ford Mustang gt to complete the relearning process.

The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy.
If you do not allow the engine to relearn its idle trim, the idle quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the idle trim is eventually relearned.
Sometimes we will need to do this when we disconnect the battery as well such as if you store your car for the winter this might be a thing to put on the check list.

Ah good to know. I'll be driving it tomorrow morning to work which is exactly 10 miles. Should be good by them. My only fear is the exhaust falling apart. Haha. I torqued all the brackets to factory specs. Still makes me nervous though.

For those of us newer to tuning, deerslayers post would make a great sticky. Hopefully an admin sees this and makes it so.

I've never had to do an idle relearn with my car.
