?? about HP output of 2011 compared to 2012+

ive been told by a few gear heads that the 2011 GT is the one to buy....even thou all years the engine is rated at 412 HP...

so why is this engine for this year rates better then the newer ones? can someone help explain the engine specs more clearly for me thanks

Never heard that before. The 2011 has the oil squirters is about all I know. I think someone is pulling your leg on the 2011 being the best though.

The only difference between 11-12 and 13-14. Is they deleted the oil squirters. And put a coating on the pistons which does nothing by the way. Also they claim a jump from 412 to 420. Which I believe they just put it to where the 11-12 actually are stock. BC if you put them on a dyno they are putting down the exact same #'s.

That's not true. The 13s and 14s are laying down more power.

Hard to find evidence to support that claim. the piston is totally different on the 13+ and it is coated but the magical unicorn 8 hp remains elusive. I went from 412 to 439 on the dragstrip dyno, on a tune alone, so, I guess the tune I got works better on the 2012, hehe.

You put down 439 with a tune only?

439 at the flywheel is the calculated power needed, based upon my car's race weight and drag times. Considering it's a canned 91 tune, the performance has been extraordinary.

There is absolutely no difference in performance. Only difference to me is the 13-14 look cheap with all the painted chin splitter, rocker panel, and rear valance.

Funny, I feel that way about the unpainted Chevy Cavalier looking lower plastic on the '11-'12

Only thing I would take off a 13-14 would be the taillights. They still have the same old weak rods. And weak *** pistons with thin ring glands.

When the '13-'14 taillight assemblies are installed in a '11-'12, there will be a small gap on the lower bottom end. Some agrue this is not noticeable, others can "beam" right to it.

Just be aware.

I like how we went from power difference to Chevy to tail lights. I don't know where the power difference comes from. I'm told it's all in the tuning. I like the way my 2011 looks compared to the newer body styles

A 11-14 with the same gears and same transmission put down the exact same #'s. Also run the same times. They are not faster by any means. And if I wanted a 13 I would have bought one. When I bought my 12 the 13's were just coming out. I did not like them BC of all the painted body parts, made them look cheap.
