intermitent grinding/scraping noise

After starting from a full stop every once in a while and sometimes on the parkway at full speed there is a terrible noise that sounds like im dragging my exhaust. It only lasts for about a minute. Every time i get out and check under the whole car, but there is nothing there. Has anyone else experienced something like this? and is there a way to replicate it, of course Ford is telling me they have no idea what it is.

its a 2014 Mustang GT
6 speed
tack package with Torsen Rear

Diagnosing noises is best done systematically.

Let's start here:

Does the noise increase with revs when it happens? Yes here? Likely the sound is engine related.

Next time it occurs, push the clutch in and let the car roll. Does the noise continue? If you answer yes, you can narrow your search to the driveline and suspension, because the noise is road speed related.

Next time, touch the brakes with your left foot without changing anything else. Does this affect the noise? If so, it's in the braking system.

If you can get under the car, look carefully for witness marks near the drive shaft or on the exhaust or frame for any hits those pieces have taken.

That'll give you something to go on, for a start.

to make the noise clearer it sounds like the exhaust is dragging

Ok, if that's what it sounds like, you need to get under and look for something hitting the exhaust or the exhaust hitting something else. It's fairly tight down there around the driveshaft but, that tends to make a more hollow, ringing sound when it's hitting the exhaust. If what you're describing is exhaust dragging on pavement sound, that's pretty hard to imagine from any other source and would be pretty obvious even to an amateur looking under the car.

Yea, and that is my concern. I have a lot of mechanical and technical background including some schooling for automotive engineering. So im very familiar with the under body of a car and i cant find anything. i installed the SLP exhaust on it myself and was very cautious to make sure nothing is touching. I have double checked the exhaust almost every time i pull away from the house, its a truly puzzling thing.

Yeah and no traction control or abs lights or thumping? I think taking the wheels off and carefully inspecting the brakes may be in order. A dinged dust shield or a brake pad slipped out and hitting the rotor hat could make grinding sounds.
