Why do you still have that tube going to the intake? Aren't you supposed to remove that.

That is the sound tube you're seeing, that goes from the intake to the firewall. I removed the pcv hose

I don't have that. My jlt intake had that sound tube capped off. If I put breathers on that would cap off the other.

The vacuum caps that fit are actually 5/8" inside diameter

For those that have done this mod, how is the air going into the crankcase being measured? I would think by putting those little filters on you are creating a tuning nightmare as well as basically a big vacuum leak.

You cap off the ends on the intake to prevent a vacuum leak. The vair going into the crank case is never measured anyway.

So the air that enters the crankcase through the intake isn't measured? I thought the maf measures that. Your basically taking a closed system and opening it up. Ask steeda or Bama or any tuner what they think.

Curious if you can still wash your engine bay with the breathers at the self/wand wash bays.

Sent from church, because I'm out of cheerios.

the MAF meters air going into the intake of the car, not the crankcase. The reason the inlet air is on the intake tube is so that only filtered air in drawn into crankcase. When you install filters it acoplishes this. When you cap off the ports on the intake tube and throttlebody (i think this is its location) you are preventing a vaccume leak. The MAF only needs to know the amount of air going into the intake. It could care less how much is going into the crank case.

That is a good question, i would definatley cover them with something. Like a zip lock bag over them and a rubber band to seal around the bottom.

I'm waiting for my engine to cool before I put them on, but for both sides I've spent a grand total of $26 at the parts store. A lot better than $220 for both catch cans. Even better than the $50-60 kit and 2-4 day shipping wait from the vendors.

Do not wash your engine at a wash bay. SMH. Use a damp rag. Put some effort into it

My birthday is next week. I'm trying to get my mother to get me a wash and wax system from Adams polishes. Until then, wash bays are all I got.

I would tend to agree with this. When i clean mine i use damp microfiber followed by paper towels. Keeps it clean enough i dont have to worry about power washing. But if you must, then cover the breathers.

I offered a guy $17 for both on ebay and he took it. All I have to buy is the caps at advance auto parts or something.

Haha, that's after wiping the covers down with a dry cloth. I put it back together and saw finger and hand prints everywhere. My allergies are killing me today thanks to 25mph wind plus spring and dryness, otherwise I'd take some time to clean her up.

All you need on a 3.7 V6 is::::

A good oil catch can on the passenger side and a breather on the drivers side.

I'm talking V6 3.7 here The V8's need a catch can on both sides from what I have been told and read. ( Or a Breather on both sides ) NOT THE 3.7's

The catch can will catch the oil, and the breather will allow a smoother crankcase reservoir with less turbulence and less foaming.
