Clink shifting down from 3rd to 2nd.

I have a 2013 gt. I have an automatic. There is a clunk when during in drive going from 3rd to 2nd and it's loud you can hear it from the outside. When I ride in select shift mode it doesn't want to go to second and what I mean by that when I'm downshifting to a stop it wants to stay in 3rd and go straight to 1st when I stop no clunk. But if I down shift it to second it wants to drag the vehicle hard and clunk depending at what Rpm I'm at the louder it is the lower rpm. It doesn't do this on any other gear up or down. Please any advice is welcome I'm nearing warranty end.

It must be a synchro going out I'd say stop downshifting it's not going to help and use that warranty before it ends!!

I do t even know what that is. I'm taking it to the dealership Thursday to do a ride a round is what they say to figure out what's going on with it. I have a tune on it now. Will they be able to check if I have ever had a tune on it even if I put the stock tune back on?

You should remove the tune and any mods that you think would void warranty. How many miles do you have?

30 k the other mods are not affecting it. Coilovers, tires, and rims...

Have you been driving that thing hard? Downshifting a lot and smashing thru gears?

Take it to the dealer while it is still under warranty. I would think you still have a lot of time though as the power train warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles. Also, I would ride in the car with them to show them the problem so that they can't say nothing is wrong.

If you have ever had a tune on it, as you just stated, your most likely going to have the warranty voided. They can tell if it has had a tune, even if you flash it back to the stock tune.

If it's any "major" type of repair on the powertrain, they send the ECM to Ford, and Ford has stated that a tune will void powertrain warranty. I'm fairly certain the dealer can tell if the ECM has been flashed when they run through the diagnostics... Ford has issued a TSB on aftermarket tunes.

Inside the Ecu there is another log that accumulates all Ecu changes and shows them what you've done if you had a tune on there and they found it even after you took it off back to normal ( it tells them) they have to prove that the tune that was the cause of failure and beings you took it off you can't not prove that it wasn't.. Do ya see ?

Defiantly take advantage of the factory warranty before it's out of your pocket.

Tell them you want it stored inside unless you need it to be colder so the problem can be heard.

Okay sounds good I go to New Orleans for a week that. So Saturday I can turn it in to them and they should be able to take it and work that whole week and when I get back it should be ready.
