mt-82

Ok so i see there is a lot of problems with the mt-82. BEFORE i go into the dealership today to change to a auto i have a question. Does the MGW short shifter fix the problems with this tranny or does the problems still persist afterwards? how much was it to get this shifter installed? i work too dam hard to afford this car i don't want any problems with it. i was goin going to put a short shifter in reguardless.

does the short shifter void the tranny warranty?

I have had a 2011 and a 2013 GT bothh manual and between them have but 40,000 on the cars. Never had an issue at all. Do think they shift sloppy but the short shifter and bracket fixed that. Really only need bracket to fix that but i like the short throw too. Only one guy but like I said no issues

I have an MGW shifter and the shifting part is much better after that. I'm scheduling an appointment with my dealer this week to get the fluid changed per TSB 11-11-1 because the factory tranny fluid is too thick apparently. I can also hear feint grinding sounds when the tranny is under have load (like starting from 2nd going, or going up a hill in low gear) which others have had problems with that too, but mine goes away after getting to higher RPM's. Hope this helps.

You can band aid the MT82 all you want but the chances of still having issues are a high percentage. With the auto slim to none. And you'll be faster.

This is true, but it cant replace the major smiles it get from driving my manual trasmission car. Issuses with the MT-82 will happen. If you buy a manual because you love to drive one then go for the exstended warranty.

I've honestly haven't really known any manual owners complain about the MT82. There was one guy that was complaining about it a while ago but he's just one of hundreds or thousands of the members in here that seemed to have problems.

There was also a post saying someone is on their fourth transmission on his 2013 GT. I'm sorry if you break 4 trannies in 6-12 months of ownership then all I can say is learn to drive a manual transmission.

No problems at all. 8100 rpm redline shifting at 7800-8000. 650+ HP and tq. And I beat the **** out of my car. I will see if she breaks when the new setup hits the street at 900+ tq. Auto swap

HaHa, this was probably me.. But it is alot better now that it has warmed up outside. Even with the issues i still love driving the manual car. Now if i have 900 hp i would want an auto. lol all hail Rapinator126

I'm going to try and break it once my new setup comes. ( if it breaks my wife won't complain about me buying a auto) . Only reason o want a auto is. With the new setup I'm going for low 10's on motor. And high 8's low 9's with the bottle

I just brought mine in and there replacing the tranny from internal failure so hopefully ford made sure this MT82 works right. I like the experience of a manual so I'll keep it manual but ford just bought me a new tranny on their wallet so I can't complain anymore I didn't even press the issue they made that call all on their own

He made the comment the tranny is so new they don't want to crack it open they can see it is having a failure so ford decided since it's a new tranny just replace it with brand new zero miles tranny he made a comment it will have to be broke in like a new car.

The biggest thing I believe, that determines if you will have problems or not. Is swapping the fluid out immediately after you buy the car

My problem with it not letting me into 3rd gear at high RPM's was fixed with an MGW shifter. I still don't know if I'm driving my manual transmission right ( my 1st manual) but at 11K miles it's still holding up ok. But I guess since it's my 1st manual I really don't know if something is wrong so long as the car goes into gear and goes.

I would have brought it in , they said something in the tranny failed and they were gonna replace it with a brand new one under warranty it had under 13k miles on it. No questions asked I intend on addin a mgw shifter with the new tranny
