Exhaust

Just bought my first mustang Monday. Traded in my 2011 Camaro ss. I got a 2014 5.0 c/s. I love this car. Just want it to be a little louder. I put a couple cherry bomb one chambers on my Camaro. I was wondering if anyone has done the same and how it sounded. Maybe do an x-pipe also. Don't really want to spend the extra money for a bolt on system since the horsepower isn't going to change.

Congrats on your new car man! I just got the same thing! What color did you get? Also when you say you dont want to spend extra money on exhaust due to no horsepower gain, please elaborate as to why? I mean I would think this is the safest way to make your car sound great without voiding your warranty or anything like that. If I were you, I would spend the extra money... Some range from $275-$800 for an AB system, plus we get a discount at AM!

If you just want it a little louder, I would go with the GT500 exhaust as it's only $319 shipped at most online sources. You are probably going to have to spend that much or more to get some non-bolt on mufflers welded on plus the cost of whatever mufflers you buy.

Exhaust

Yea u might as well just get the bolt on axel backs. You'll spend close to the same going the other way. Just get the gt500 AB 's if u don't wanna spend too much. The best tone in IMO are the borla s-types. But they may not be what ur lookin for in price.

Those are a great bargain. However if you want the most Gnarly aggressive sound on the GT, but no drone during cruise so you don't have to put Gun Muffs on your head like with glass paks; Get Borla ATAKs, or Borla S-type stingers if you don't what the most barking on pull.

I had S-type sports on my V6 and it sounded better than a stock GT. I just put ATAKs on my new 2013 GT and my friends are like that farkin' barks better then the rest at the meets.

I took my 2014 Gt to my local muffler shop and had them cut the mufflers off and run pipes back to 4" tips. I live the way it sounds and I get compliments all the time.

How is the drone at 75-80 on the freeway for a few hours drive?
Its low cost to get loud, it costss some good but well spent money to get loud without drone.

When I was young in the 70s, I had thrush paks only on a big block 400 Mopar. I could not take the girlfriend to the beach an hour away it was so bad.

It actually has very little drone at 45-55 you can hardly hear it and at 65-80 you can here it but it's not super loud in the cab

Well drone is about the 60-85 mph range for traveling, not 45-55

So if you dont take trips, go cheap!

Congrats on you new purchase, and well done for getting rid of that chevy!

I got myself a Flowmaster Outlaw catback exhaust on my 2012 GT 5.0 and boy is that thing loud.
Funny enough it makes me drive a bit slower in some areas because the Police in LA are D**K Heads!
Yes there is a drone at 65-70 but i have it go just past 2500 revs it does go away!

But it sound superb, and it very loud and all i get are thumbs up from people everywhere.

I also love having a challenger R/T or a camero SS pull up when im at the light and seeing there smirk get wiped when i finally take off.

This system was 780 bucks well spent. American Muscle and Summit racing are both good places to get them.

It has a great high speed sound when you rip it that terrorizes the neighbors cars alarms.

I do love the exhaust, but cabin can be very loud and there is a drone! I just turn up the radio and its fine.
One thing i will say down shift if you want to talk to your friends and the hands free is not soo functional which is slightly frustrating, but you should'nt be on the phone while driving!

Kewl, its a great car I am sure you will love.
Are you going to leave it all white, or are you going to do a white/black or a white/blue type contrasting with stripes and accessories.

White and Black is always good
White and the darker blue was always hot on the late 60s 'Stangs

Is there any way you could post a video of your sound? I've been considering doing the same thing, but want to make sure it doesn't sound cheap.

Yeah, I have a set as well and I love 'em! I get asked about them all the time. I'm always disappointed that Roush isn't brought up more in these kinds of threads. IMO, the sound quality and lack of drone make Roush a top choice.

Yup. I remember the first time I fired it up at my parents house and my mom said "Is THAT legal?!?!"

Then it calmed down and they just shook their heads and walked off...but yeah when you get on it, the thing just purrs. I love it.

I won't ever do anything but Roush from here on out. Plus the tips on them are wicked.

I've heard the Roush AB's in person. On the 5.0, they sound amazing. On the 3.7, loudest fart can exhaust I've ever heard. I've heard once you go cat-less and x-piped, the Roush AB's start to sound like poop. So they may not be as versatile as other mufflers.
