Question 2014 GT/CS, Do I need a short throw shifter?

I have a 2014 GT/CS with 800 miles on it, and I'm reading about short throw shifter but I'm not sure if is needed on the 2014. I am looking at the Barton and the new version of MGW shifter. If, I do need one, which one do you recommend?

Note: Bill Tumas from CJ pony parts said "I love MGW shifters but prefer the Barton/Ford Racing for the 11 and up cars".

I wouldn't say you NEED one...but they are a great addition and definitely help. I have a Hurst plus 2 and I love it. I would recommend it ....however I've never used the 2 you are referring to so wouldn't be much help with that. However...i'd def put it on your list to get.

I've rowed modified stock (bracket and knob) down track over 100 times without issue. Need is a strong word. I'd say something needs to be done about the flobbery setup in stock form, if you like performance driving but, going as far as a full shifter is up to you. I am happy with these minimal interventions.

I can get the MGW for $389 and Barton for $369, thus the MGW is a better deal.

Knowing what I know now, i would say, yes def get a better shifter with brackets.
I absolutely love my MGW and wouldn't trade it for anything. Almost bought the Steeda or hurst due to cost, but glad I ponied up a few extra bones!

Did you use your own shifter ball? According to their website the Boss302 ball is not compatible so I ordered a shifter ball from them? It is too bad cause I like the Boss 302 Shift ball.

I actually purchased a ball from them prior to the MGW install but it was compatible with the shifter.

I will call them to confirm. Their website states "MT-82 shifter is NOT compatible with stock BOSS 302 knob. Please select a compatible knob below. MT-82 SHORT THROW SHIFTER

Thank you BigBlue.

I love my Steeda short throw shifter AND bracket. If you get a new shifter don't sell yourself short, buy the bracket
