Race star as dd?

So I'm completely lost when it comes to drag rims . I'm currently running 18x9 and 18x10 staggered amr rims . ( I have a winter set of rims ) . I daily drive it on highway to work rain and all . My question is I really love the dark stars and would love the traction they bring for track but can I even run them as a dd? I hear they Arnt good for it as they can bend or something or other . So can I run them if so what sizes . Thought about leaving my front 18s and buying just tears but idk help me out thank you

Don't do big 'n littles on the road. the compromise to braking and wet handling performance is very unwise. Not too much risk bending the rears but up front it's not outside the realm of possibility. It ain't the rims that give you the traction, it's the tire you put on them and anything that will really hook on the slippery road is probably not too well suited to it, from a durability standpoint.

That said, I drive to and from the track on non-DOT slick tires every time I go, without problems.

Ya don't want big and littles exactly as I can see highway driving being scary. . Can I leave my 18x9 255 up front and run 15x8 with big tire in rear would that be safer ? Thank you

Yes but, what's the point? You'll have to TPMS them to avoid the light and any road legal tire that will stick will have a very short lifespan on the road. Better off just going with running a matching supersport summer tire on your existing 10" rim at say, 295 out back. A 15X8 is going to be pushing it to get a 10" wide tire on it.

The light is covered by black tape so that's not a issue lmao currently run 275s on back and after i tuned car they hook for crap. Would just be 15x8 with a 275 drag radial if I swapped . Or like you said maybe I should just go buy so big rear tires

Drag radials don't hook for **** unless you heat them. So, you won't get better traction from on road, unless you live on the surface of the sun....or Louisiana or Florida in summer.

DRs still have a pretty stiff carcass so, you're better off just going wider, summer only supersport tire and moderating your right foot. I have no difficulty squatting and shooting my 3.73 BBP car on 255 Michelin all-seasons. Can I overwhelm them? Of course, but, I can still holeshot pretty much anything that isn't AWD if I want to.

Lowering springs certainly won't help your traction issues.....

I run nothing but bigs and littles on my car. Granted it's not a daily driver.

Definitely....

All it takes with big an littles is one high sped evasion or maximum braking effort and you can be done. This stuff happens all the time on the road. It's just not a good idea for anything other than a track rat or a show car.

A lot of guys run 17x7s up front and 15x8s or 15x10s out back and daily drive them with no issues. Nitto 555Rs are fine in the rain and hook good on the street.

A 7" wheel isn't really too little. That's just an inch or so down on the stock 18 so you can fit a reasonably sized tire on that. A real little is yer standard 4-ish inch stuff.

The point of a true little is to reduce rolling resistance and a 7" wheel with a 225 or so on it ain't much drop on the 245 standard tire.

It's still quite a bit lighter than stock. A 17x7 Racestar wheel is lighter than stock. I know what littles are, I'm just giving him some options. Several people run this setup.

17x7s with 215/55/17s and 15x10s with 275/60/15s out back. Talk to Beefcake, he can get you a great deal on racestars or darkstars.
