Axle Back Pipes

Putting axle back pipes on my 2014 GT. Where should I locate the floor jack on the rear of the car? Is it OK to Jack at the axle ball?

I used a pair of rhino ramps when I installed mine. Inexpensive from autozone and easy to use. Not really an answer to your question....just thought I'd throw out another option for you.

I have always jacked the rear up from the bottom of the differential. From there just put a pair of jack stands under each rear axles and slowly lower it down.

As mentioned before the ramps are also a great suggestion, but just be careful to not hit the rear bumper going up or down on them, especially if the car is already lowered.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions along the way feel free to get back in touch. Enjoy the new axle back, and let us know how it works out!

You're going to get A LOT of different opinions regarding lifting the rear of the car by the pumpkin. Whether they're right or wrong, I'll give you my own experience because I just put a set of AB pipes on my car last summer.

I lifted the rear by the pumpkin with a 2 ton jack using a small piece of 2x4 wood in between the jack cup and the pumpkin. I took extra care while lifting to make sure I wasn't hitting the diff cover. Once up high enough I put it up on jack stands and released the jack from the diff. If you have questions on where to put the jack stands I'll include an image below. You can use any of the 4 red dots for the rear of the car. Once you get everything installed lift her up, remove the stands, and gently lower.

Enjoy your new pipes!

you can't hit the diff cover, it's set back from the edge of the pumpkin. Lifting here is just fine.

real no gos for jack points are anything sheet metal under the car and the rear arms of the front K member. I'd put your rear stands at the pinch welds suggested for jacking the car. Just gotta be a little careful there so you don't hit the plastic rocker cover with the jackstand. No risk but might be damaged cosmetically.

Ramps are inherently dangerous, especially when used on the rear, driven wheels.
