If you look. Stores have painted lines usually blue farther back in the parking lot. If you park past this line the store is not liable for any accidents on that property

With it being on private property, the police can do nothing. I had a similar thing happen to me at work that I actually witnessed. I got his plates and gave them to the police and they said they can't do anything. All they did was cooperate with my insurance. They ran his plates, gave my insurance his name and information and my insurance tracked his insurance company down and filed a claim against him.

Unfortunately they can't charge the driver with anything, especially since they'll probably deny it and say they weren't driving or it just wasn't them. The best they can do from the video is get a tag number to give to your insurance probably.

doesnt even matter. parking lots are a free for all...
its 50/50 .. google it
you can make a claim and your rates will go up and the car will be charted that its been damaged, hurting re sale... or u can just deal with it out of pocket and yeah. His insurance company wont have to pay to fix your car because it was in the parking lot. Sucks!

False. If a car is hit while legally parked, the only fault is the driver. Ask me how I know.

Two of the 5 times my vehicles have been hit while parked were in private property parking lots, one being a hit and run and the other 3 times, they were legally parked on the street (residential and within 6" of the curb). I have never been considered at fault for a single incident.

I don't even know where one gets the logic that it's 50/50 in parking lots no matter what. That's why there are lines for traffic flow and parking.

My car was hit and run at work. I called the police and they did a report. 1 week later I found out who it was. Fellow co worker. I confronted him and told him I knew it was him. He confessed. He gave me his insurance information and they had no problem fixing my rear bumper and putting me in a rental car while it happened.

^I wouldn't say fired, but I'd let all of my other coworkers know that guy is a dishonest dbag (for lack of a more professional term).

yea well its also called, "**** happens!" I hate it but so true! But you also have insurance for that specific reason and a UM or COMP claim will not effect your insurane pymt, you are just screwed due to deductible. Hope they get you there info so you can recuperate your cash spent to fix it! Next time, try Target!
