2014 mustang switching between fuel octanes?

What is the correct procedure to switch between regular and prenium fuel on the 5.0l? Can you switch as you wish or you got to let the tank empty and then make the switch?

If the car only requires 87 and you are not tuned for higher, switch and mix however you please. It really doesn't matter what percentage of anything you have in your tank. You just don't want to put less than the minimum octane required in your tank.

The Coyote can naturally adjust for the change in octane, it bumps and retards the timing as necessary. So the 420 claimed horsepower is on premium fuel (93) octane, so you lose a tiny bit of power going 87, but its perfectly fine... And since it can tell what the overall octane level of the tank is you can switch as needed.

So it's not absolutely necessary to run the tank empty of 87 before using 93 octane?

Here in my town the lowest octane at the pumps is 86 -____-
So since the owners manual says minimum is 87, I usually throw the midrange 88 into it just to keep her happy...

Another ****ty thing is that we only go to 91... not 93
