Idk why most people think that the Challenger is the best looking pony car. It's nice, but I prefer the Mustang for sure. The Challenger lacks body lines. Look at it from the side or rear and it just looks like a huge blob of paint.

To me the challenger has a good looking front end but when it comes to overall looks I have to hand it to the mustangs, one of the most aggressive looking cars on the market IMO

I didn't excatly make the jump from one to the other - I still have my 2009 SRT8 with a Saleen Supercharger installed - dynoed at 508 RWHP. I just bought a 2013 Roush Mustang GT Stage 3 - 565 HP NOT at the rear wheels. The Roush is a total kick in the ***!! It weighs several hundred lbs. less than my Challenger and the exhaust system is nothing less than killer!!

Here is the best reason to get rid of a challenger or charger r/t.....my 2014 3.7 v6 mustang is faster and outperforms both in a line and destroys them on a circuit track

I would go 5.0 over R/T any day. The R/T is a peg leg depending on options as well.

5.0 is significantly faster than an R/T anything.
I was recently at the track with my new 2014 GT. Another guy there with a new SS Camaro. Both automatics, Hot and humid weather. I was turning 13.20's he was turning 13.70's. That's pretty significant in the qtr. mile.

When it comes to the best retro looking cars #1-Mustang, #2 Challanger and a distant #3 Camaro they really missed the retro Camaro look.

Do yourself a favor and rent a mustang for a weekend and see what you think. The V6 is no 5.0, but you can get a feel for the way the car handles the pavement and interior ergonomics that most people overlook on a test drive, and identify issues that crop up after purchase because new car lust blinded you.
If you decide on a mustang, get the best GT you can afford. I had a '13 with a V6 but my '14 GT premium is so much better I'm glad I traded up.

Best of luck with whatever you decide, the Challenger is a good looking car and you are still in the muscle car family. Drive the one that stirs YOUR soul.

I've had both. I had a 2012 Challenger R/T. It was lightly optioned; 6-speed manual, Super Track Pak (lowered suspension, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supecar tires), and a roof. Cloth interior, base audio. Wasn't a total pig, think it was right around 4050 lbs. Okay, so it's heavy....

The Mustang is an easier car to live with. Can park it and not worry about door dings, doesn't dominate my garage or driveway, pretty anonymous on the road. I miss the Challenger sometimes. Even the standard cloth seats are more comfortable than the leather Recaros on a long ride -- particularly if you have an athletic build or are over 160lbs.

At the track, Mustang all day long. Mine runs 12.70s @ 112+, best I ever got out of the Challenger was a 13.63 @ 104mph. I will say though, it felt MUCH faster after I got about 5,000 miles on it. The Challenger is hampered by weight, a narrow power band (truck motor), and unnecessarily restrictive torque management. Powershift one and you can feel it fall on it's face. Remote customer tuners usually can get them down around 12.90s-13-flat at 107mph+. Still slower than a stock GT, but much more enjoyable, and from a roll they aren't that bad once its big fat *** gets moving.

Challenger is a nicer car for trips, driving, and not looking like every other car on the road. Never get any comments on my Mustang other than miserable minivan Dads at work that hate life and celebrate my choice of vehicle. Challenger I'd get comments getting gas all the time, and have 5 people standing around it at the drag strip. Not that I care, but Mustangs are everywhere, and they don't make as many Mopars. Oh and the Challenger got decidedly better gas mileage; even weighing 500lbs more and with 3.92 gears vs. 3.73s.

I still wouldn't mind getting another Challenger; if I can find a deal on Scat Pak or a low mileage 2012+ SRT8 in the spring I might trade my Mustang in on one.

Hellcat --$25,000 dealer markup

A friend of mine got a call from his dealer that they just got a Hellcat in. He went to the dealer to see about buying it. It had a window sticker announcing a $25,000 dealer markup. Yes, TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
**************And Guess What?????????????????????????????????????????????????

It was Sold by the time he got there.

Yea that is ridiculous... people are putting them up on ebay and idiots are buying them... I just don't get it. There's dealerships willing to sell them at MSRP. People are so dumb.

The big thing is:::

Most of them will never see the street. A lot of Hellcats will end up in some rich persons collection and never be doing what it's supposed to be doing. ( Giving Driving pleasure)
I hope Fiat decides to keep on producing them and floods the dealers with them. It won't happen, but it sure would be great if they did.
