First Oil Change

I have a 2014 GT/CS, I have 2600 miles on it I have had it since October of last year I was told that even though I haven't put 5000 miles on it I should change the oil. Just needing a little help sorry if this has been covered before. In case it makes a difference my mods are Steeda cai, boss im, kooks longtube headers 1 7/8, kooks o/r xpipe, roush axlebacks, breenspeed sct x3. Also what's the best oil to use

If no track pack, then it calls for 5w-20. Take your pick, any name brand 5w-20 will get the job done. Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5w-20 is great oil, as is the the full synthetic. I personally use any name brand synthetic I can get on sale, though I have a soft spot for Pennzoil Platinum.

Car takes 8 quarts. FL-500S is the filter (motorcraft par number). Get yourself a jack and some jack stands, or some ramps and expect to spend about 45 minutes to an hour if you've never done it before. Here are some oil filter cross references:
Motorcraft FL500S, Purolator L22500, Royal Purple 20-500, K&N HP-2011, Fram PH10575, Mobil 1 M1-212.

I'm not sure what you specifically need help with, so if you need further clarification let me know.

Needing help that I only have 2600 miles but it's been 8 months since I have had my car does the oil need to be changed or do I wait the full 5000 miles before I change the oil. I was told to wait 5000 miles for the break in oil or change it cause it's been longer than 6 months

I'm not one of those guys that says to change the oil 50 times during break in, I typically drive 1500 miles and do an oil change. Then I go to the remainder of the factory interval and do another change. Every change after that is based on the factory interval.
However there are those who say changing the initial factory fill is not required. Some might even say its harmful because there are assembly lubes and "super secret break-in" additives present in the factory oil fill. Personally I think that's a bunch of bologna. I also don't think that a small amount of break-in material is going to harm your engine, that is what oil filters are for. If you have the means, I'd say change it...will give you piece of mind and let you get a good look at whats going on in your engine bay.

Change your oil, then change it again at the scheduled factory interval, which should be 10k miles. Our cars take 8 quarts of oil....3k oil changes are wasteful and unnecessary for a daily driver (race or HP applications are a different story). As for the time interval, I would change it based on mileage or 1 year, which ever comes first. If your car is only ever driven on short trips then the oil won't reach full operating temperature and burn off the fuel and water which develop in your oil as a byproduct of the combustion process. In those instances, I'd change it every 6 months.

Engine oil forum. That is a web forum dedicated to automobiles and engine lubrication. Much info to be learned.

Keep hitting your info button and the car will tell you what your oil life percentage is. I believe it bases it on time and driving tendencies.

Also, the oil filter removal gets a bit messy because of it's positioning so have some rags ready.

I'm in the same boat as you. Mine is not a daily driver and I have 2700 miles. My last change was in Sept 2013. I checked the oil the other day and it still looked good and the level was fine. I'll change it again sometime over the summer. I use RP 5W-20

looking good is NOT an acceptable way to test oil. Old school, 1st one @ 750 miles, 2nd @ 3-4K both semi-syn then full syn. Mine is a nice day toy 5-6K year I go by time rather than miles...I choose to do it every 9 months. That works out to be 4x in 3 yrs which is 1 more than the time based 3x my OLM says. I also suggest the FL-820 filter as it's a bit larger.

other will have differant opinions I doubt in the real world there is much differance read them all and pick the one that makes you sleep better.

For a car like this it is good practice to change the oil/filter once a year regardless of mileage. Napa Gold (WIX) filter and some M1 from Wal Mart ($26 for a 5 qt jug so just buy two and be good to just buy one for the next change) and call it good. If you are cheap you can do just fine with Motorcraft or Super Tech at $17.99 for the same jug.

Its all in your owners manual. And as I already said I'd go with mobil 1 from wal mart so you don't spend an arm and a leg and a napa gold filter. RP is pretty much a gimmick oil. Its good, but its not anything special except for purple coloring.
