delay shifting in sport mode

2014 Mustang 5.0 Automatic

I have a question about shifting between gears in sport mode!

I was driving to try a 1st gear pull and when I was doing it a couple of times I notices if I hit the gas and ready to shift on the (-,+) between shifts there is a big delay between the shifts and wanted to know does a tune fix it, or something else im missing.

Tunes do nothing for sport mode, or the +,- shifting. That's how Ford made the Sport mode and +,- shifts.

I've been wondering if the Hennessey pistol grip shifter for the autos would work on the 13, 14 or not. I never use the selectshift, rarely use sport mode.

I doubt Ford is ever going to do anything to it. The tuners can't to anything to it.

I have looked at this for 2 years now. The tuners cannot access the sport mode shifts, its locked at the factory. IN fact as you get your car faster, you can find that you try to shift in 1st at around say 6700 and find it wont shift at all and you either lift your foot to make it shift or it hits the rev limiter and you see red flashing lights in your tac. I saw this happen in another car I was driving.

It was one reason I swapped out my Farkin' fast Cyclone 3.7 V6/Auto for a Coyote/MT82, even with all the MT82 Conundrums.

Now if using the Drive mode on a 1/4 mile track you get a good MPT or Lund tune, put the shiftier in Drive, press the foot to the floor, the car does the driving. Sorta one reason the road track guys say quick in a quarter mile, fast car. Quick on a open road track, fast driver.

There is, keep the auto for 1/4 track, or for street pounding and open track use get a manual, that is what I did to solve it.

Tunes do nothing for sport mode, or select shift, that was his mind. Or he was in D, thinking he was in S.
