Oil separator vs breathers?

I don't know much about these other than what I've read in one or 2 forum conversations. And obviously, with separators, you have to periodically empty them.

What do breathers do? Are they better than separators? Engine will be stock for a while, maybe a tune.

I've seen separators on AM for 80-120 ish, in price. I saw a breather kit for about 60 on a different site.

I will be putting in either a separator or breather, just want to get opinions, and see if one is much better than the other.

Even catch cans will let some oil vapor by and into your intake when you get on it. Breathers guarantee you wont get any oil into your intake, as they aren't plumbed into the intake. If you just run the filters on the coil covers, you may need to periodically clean them. Personally, I like a breather system opposed to a collection can.

Would the breathers get the coil covers dirty? How often would be periodically? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't know much about them, other than that they help with filtering oil vapors.

We ran them and didn't get them dirty, however now that we are SC I changed it up a bit so we never have to clean anything. It is a breather catch can system. Works great.

It is a breather can. It mounts on the firewall and is a filtered breather can that plumbs into both coil covers.
Here is a link to it:

That's sweet. I may end up doing that then. Is it Emissions legal?
