Team,
I just got my first GT...what a machine...any way my question is on the side it has the logo of Boss , what exactly does that means...is my car a Boss or it is now..how do I know it...just want to make sure I am not staying I have a Boss when in fact I do not ....

Look under the hood is first thing. Does it have the Boss intake manifold? Also you can look up your VIN and it should be able to tell you also

Biggest giveaway will be the gauges. Is the Redline marker set at 7k or 7.5k? That will be your tell tell

So... Is it a Boss or not?

I would think just look at the sales slip or the window sticker. And then follow Rapinator's gauge advice. If both don't match then you go bamboozled by the dealer somehow lol

Wow - Cheated by the dealer

OP went in to by a GT and the dealer screwed him by substituting the GT with a Boss 302. I think he should call a lawyer and get his $$$$ returned.
********-- OR--*****************************
Just keep the Boss and learn how freakin lucky he is.

You know where he went

He went back to the dealer to exchange his boss for a real GT

That would be nice--- BUT____

You don't know what dealer it was because the OP disappeared on us.
Of course if you did know what dealer it was you probably would end up with a Super Snake and not the GT500 you asked for.

I've already got the answer to OP's question if he ever reappears. It's a GT. His profile says he owns a 2014. The Boss was only available 12-13.

Unless... OP was as confused by the model year as he was with the model itself

In his original post he said he just bought his first GT. He never said they told him it was a boss he was just wondering if he may of accidentally stumbled across a boss

At least that's the way I took but if they told him it was a boss then yeah they took you for a ride

So, did a previous owner install the Boss tripes with the "Boss 302" logo on the GT you bought? That may not gather freindship with the real Boss 302 owners. Many Mustang owners will put stripes on a Mustang that were used on other specific models, just not the actual badging or name (i.e. "Boss 302" or "Shelby").

Op is back. Would have been a neat story to have stumbled across a dumb dealer and got a Boss cheap. Oh well. I personally would take the Boss off but that's up to you. Enjoy the car!! They are fun!!!
