New synthetic from Pennzoil

Pennzoil Ultra Full Synthetic Motor Oil - Pennzoil

I am part of a test case with my SRT8 challenger running 0w-40.

Sent my Mobil 1 sample in for analysis. Looking forward to the comparison in this oil vs. Mobil 1.

Not on shelves yet.

The oil change light comes on every 7-8,000 miles and I get it serviced. It's pretty simple. If I started overthinking things like oil type and change intervals I wouldn't have time for other things like watching Sister Wives or making sure my daughters aren't out running around with Turds.

Yes, I understand that some of you sniff the nozzles on gas pumps (to make sure you are not inadvertently pumping diesel). Well, you're weird. HaHaHaHaHa.

It's available at select Walmart stores in 5 qt. jugs:
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5W20 SN Motor Oil, 5 Qts: Motor Oil, Transmission Fluid & Car Lubricant : Walmart.com

I filled with 5w20 Pennzoil Ultra when I got my oil changed last March.

It appears they've done away with Ultra, and replaced it with Ultra Platinum.

It says on the label "MADE FROM NATURAL GAS":

Since the base oil is derived from Nat Gas, a process termed GTL (Gas to Liquid), I'm not sure it can be classified as a III or IV. I dont believe there is anything like it to research. Completely new technology.

Here is a good article that explains more.

Gas to Liquids - Conversions Produce Extremely Pure Base Oils

Very interesting. So the question is. Does this new oil technology provide superior lubrication and protection over the base III or IV synthetic oils? Lol

Very interested in this. May be my next oil change unless I hear something bad about it before then.
