2011 GT Not Picking Up Speed

Good Afternoon,

I've had a 2011 GT since 2010.

Recently it's been having trouble picking up speed.

If I try to accelerate in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear the RMPs jump all the wayto a little below reline with a loud rev and it does not accelerate at all. I have a Bama SCT tune and there was never anissue before.

Could it be that my clutch is going bad?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a clutch to me - how many miles are on it?

Not sure how long these clutches normally last - I'll let somebody else answer that. Of course it's dependent on how you drive it! Seems odd that it only happens in 4/5/6th gear. Does it happen when you accelerate hard in 1st-3rd?

The car rattles when I take off from a dead stop.

Does it stink when you get off to a start from a stop?

The info provided is pretty vague, but sounds like it's the clutch going out.

Do you all have a ballpark or about how much everything would cost to repair?

Stink. There's a distinct smell of a slipping clutch

Sorry I misread your post. Do it doesn't stink or smell like clutch at all.

Engine has much more leverage on the clutch in higher gears. If it's going out, you'll notice the slippage in the higher gears first. Driveline will feel spongy if the disk is worn to the point of slippage. If you see it happening in 1st and 2nd gear, I wouldn't be trying to drive up any hills or you'll be stranded very quickly, heh.

I just called Ford, they said I have 100,000 mile extended warranty.

Do you think they would be able to fix it under warranty? Would this considered normal wear and tear?

They weren't able to tell me over the phone until they do that diagnostic.

No its not covered under warranty. It's a sales gimmick. The chances of you telling them to go ahead with the repair if your at the shop is a lot higher than if they told you no and then proceeded with tellin you that to replace it with a stock clutch would cost you twice as much as it would if you went aftermarket

Call and ask if the extended warranty covers your clutch. I doubt that it does since it's a maintenance item. Can't hurt to ask. Also would be good to have a service tech drive the car so you know for sure it's the clutch. Based on the info we have, it sounds like it.. But we aren't the ones in the drivers seat!

Is the clutch disk consider a consumable? Kind a like break pads?

Jon,

Sorry to hear about the trouble here-This isn't sound like it's tune related. I would get on the highway, throw her in 5th or 6th. If it's bouncing around it's likely a clutch issue! I'm more than happy to throw a few recommendations up if you would like. Take a look at our Clutch Kits and let me know if you're to have any questions!

Ford says I have the 100K warranty and they want me to take my car in for a diagnostic.

If I have a Cold Air Intake (Steeda) and a BAMA tune, will my warranty be voided? Should I return everything back to stock?

Removing the intake and tune takes about 30-40min so I would say you mine as well.. Is there anything else installed that requires the tune? Cat deletes or offroad mid pipes?

If there's any concern at all, just pull it off and throw the stock stuff back on
