Tires for handling

I don't drag race my car. What is the best tire with a balance of handling/longevity? 19x9 wheel
Thanks

Michelin Pilot Super Sports. We have 295/45/19 on the back and 275/45/19 on the front. SO much smoother than 35's. They fill the wheel wells perfectly and they stick like glue wet or dry. These tires are a 100% improvement over the Pirelli's

Dam a 295/45 out back? That's close to a 30" tire.

Not doubting you but I'm not seeing a 45 aspect tire on the tire sites I usually use?

Damn, 295/45-19. That is 29.5" tall, that's a damn tall tire for a Mustang.

I've always have had good luck with Nitto tires. I would look at the Nitto Invo. Had them on my C6 and loved them. Great all-around tire and they are quiet and comfortable on road trips. When I wear out my NT555r's I'll be switching to the Invos.

The invo is a good compound, i can certainly hook better at the track with them, but some people say the sidewall is slightly too soft to be a good road race tire. I have a square 275 35 19 set up, so maybe i dont have enough sidewall to notice the flex, but i have a few track days at the end of the summer so we'll see ....

I'm all about hooking and Invos do not do it, either do 555's, or the v-12's, now the 555r's aren't bad bc they are fine in the rain.

For drag radials out back

Either
255/40/19 MT street comps up front
305/35/19 MT ET street 2 ' s out back

Or
255/40/19 - nt05's front
305/35/19 - nr05r's back

OK same setup as I mentioned just swap the rears for its hard to find good street tires that are a good fit for a 11" wide 19.

So try a 305/35/19 regular Nt05 just like the front.

Tires for handling

We love these tires. Great for road racing and the aspect ratio of 45 have us some more sidewall that we wanted. Got them at Discount Tire when Michelin was offering a $75 rebate. This pic is deceiving on the stance because the car is on a hill. On level ground, the back tire fills the wheel well perfectly. No gap and no rubs

35 for height All around or just the back. And I know I was thinking the super sports for tires but are they really all that worth it?

That car is so sexy. I thought 45 would be to tall of a tire which was I looked at 35 more. And what's the drop you have on the car. And one last question how much did all 4 end up running you?

Going from 35's to 45's did look different at first. They looked way taller, but the ride quality is well worth it. We had Pirelli's on the car prior and we thought they were awful. Wore out quickly, grip was terrible and in the rain, they were dangerous. The PSS tires on there now are well worth the extra $ we paid. So far, the tread life is impressive and we are supercharged now. Grip is night and day different and most of all, ride quality, smoothness and grip in wet conditions are like it is dry. No doubt, we will buy these tires again when it is time.
They had to order the rears and it took a week to get them, but out the door, mounting, taxes everything was 1300 out the door. I did get a $75 debt card too, so 1225 after all said and done

To each their own Rap. I loved the invo and never had any bad experiences with them. C6 wasn't stock but even in stock form it's putting out more than most mustangs. I guess tires are like car care products, everyone has their own opinion and everyone thinks what they use is the best. Lol

I also think your recommendations for rear tire width is a little off. 19x11 wheel should have a 305-325 tire. 295 will look too stretched on a wheel that wide.

A 295 will work on a 11" all depends on the brand of the tire. Now a 325 will more than likely will not fit on a mustang depending on the offset of the wheel.

Thats funny that the worked on your c6 must have been a turd. Bc Invos are junk none the less.

* also he wanted street tires which your verry limited to "street tires" for a 19 inch wheel being 11' wide. Unless you want a 30 series which is not a good idea. So your limited in good tire choices between 295's- 315's. Also MT in a 295 is wider than a nitto 315 is

The Invo is a good street tire for road racing and autocross, not designed to be a tire for launching. There are much better tires out there for autocross, but I have seen the Invos in action and they do decent.

Maybe your buddy can't drive Rap and doesn't know how to launch properly. Either way I was running 345's and never had an issue with getting them to stick.

No, they had the fronts in stock and brought the rears out of somewhere in California. It took less than a week.

You guys think 305/35/20 that's about 28.5" tall would be too tall for a GT with 3.31 gears? I'm putting down 423whp but might do 3.73 gears eventually. 3.31 are still fine with me at this time and would like to keep them if the tires aren't too tall...
