3.55 vs 3.73

I know I know, another gearing thread. Have a 2014 6 speed with the stock 3.31's and really cant decide which ratio I want to go with. Car accelerates well but not as well as my last 3.73 car and I rarely use 6th gear. I've heard most really like the 3.55's for a DD, my car is a nice weather driver but doesn't get driven in the winter. Current mods are AED tune,JLT CAI and waiting on my Kooks 1 3/4 long tubes to arrive. Originally I was going to keep the 3.31's in anticipation of going turbo but with building a house the reality of that is the Helion TT is probably a few years off so considering building a NA instead. Only downfall is when I had a 3.73 car 1st gear was pretty short and hard to get to hook up but the car wanted to bog a little leaving in 2nd during spirited driving.

go 4.10 and never look back.

and honestly, you have a 3.31. why would you even consider wasting money on a 3.55. Not even that big of a difference. just saying.

3.55 vs 3.73

Considered 4.10's, occasionally travel a couple hundred miles to some car shows so wasn't sure if they would be to much on the interstate running 75.

itll be a little over 2300 rpms. not that big of a deal. promise. and cruising speeds youll get pretty much the same mpg. just a lot more fun around town though. lol. if not at least the 3.73. the 3.55 is a waste. promise.

I wondered myself what the rpm would be with 4.10's. That's 1000 more than I run at that speed with the 3.31's. What is you highway mpg? I get 29 on the highway here in wv with the mountains. If I were in flatlands like texas I would get more.

14-16 mpg on highway. My car runs on e85 and is far from stock motor/ fuel system. Mpg is not what I intended my car for

Subbed, I've been thinking about doing gears as well but don't want to sacrifice much in the mpg department as I'll be doing a lot of highway driving

I get 25-26 on 4.10's 275/40-19 intake and tune. I DD my car so I care about mileage but I have plenty of room to play with so I'm not worried about it for now. My 05 mini i had running 21 psi supercharged. little quick ****er but no top end due to small displacement. 21 mpg. lol. get something much faster and 3 times the engine and im getting better with mods. still laughing about it.

I'll be running E85 as well once my tester kit arrives here in the next week. Sounds like 4.10's might work pretty well. Do you have a boss or upgraded to spin to 8000 reliably?

Interesting, thought the stock block was only good for around 700 or so. NA build maybe sooner than later then

Might be a stupid question but does anyone know how to decipher the manufacturer sticker on my 2013 mustang GT to know what rear end I'm running with. I'm 99.9 percent sure a 3.35 because I only have a deluxe but not a premium but I've heard of ppl getting 3.55 gears in a deluxe package. Thanks.

Maybe around Texas, but we all know the fastest cars in the country come from Oklahoma.

I think there was some misunderstanding here, Stock internals =/= stock block. Rap means the physical block, I believe you were asking about the engine internals being rated to ~700 or so, which is true.

Fyi...I drive 25k per year all freeway. Limit is 70. Driving 80, I get 21-22 mpg at 2450 rpm. At 70 i get 24-25 mpg and can't recall rpms as I rarely go that slow!
This is from my '14 Track pack with 3.73s.

I have a 2014 GT 6 speed with 3.73 and and they are perfect for a DD. Often times start from a stop in second gear, but then I am not a racer..my 2 cents.
