Removing Vinyl Stripes

Hey guys. So I recently purchased a '13 GT track pack. Black with black matte vinyl stripes. For whatever reason the stripes seem to be more of a pain to maintain when cleaning the car than I had hoped for. Any water marks or finger prints etc.. are hard to get off and look like junk. Has anyone tried removing these stripes? I've heard about just using a hair dryer on low heat and pealing. Concidering it's still new and hasn't been on for too long I would assume shouldn't be bad after a good buff job on the paint. But curious if anyone's done this. Any heads up or tips?? Thanks.

I took off my rocker panel stripes....easy peasy just carefully get a finger nail under a corner and carefully peel back pulling straight out from the body of the car. It is easier on a warm day but they'll come off with only a little work. On mine I waited a few months b4 removing to be sure and I didn't have any residue.

If you do end up with any residue, a good hand washing should get rid of most, if not all of it, if not a clay bar will get the rest. Just don't scrub with a cloth or something like that, you'll introduce swirls.

Removing Vinyl Stripes

Pics please? I always thought matte black stripes would look good on my black 13 GT

Before and after if possible.

Thanks!

Belt sander. 60 grit should do it.

Yeah if the stripes were more like the gt500 and it carried over to the front/rear bumpers and wasn't just the hood roof and trunk then I would have kept them. Just sort of seemed half *** that it was only part of the car so decided to ditch them.

I like it. I'm sure in person the stripe is more visible.

Are there stripes on the side as well? I was thinking stripes on the side too on mine if I did it.

Another member has a sterling grey with black and white stripes. Looks good. I like the multi colored stripes. Gives it some dimensions.

I really like them, but i have no side stripes.Light really comes into play with the stripes.Different times of the day produces different effects of how they show up...Glad i did it from factory.Covered by warrenty.

Agreed. My 2014 GT Track Pack is a "stripe delete" car, so I got to pick my stripe and color. I am getting GT500-style double red stripes that will run all the way down front and back bumpers. Gonna look killer. Can't wait.

if u have acces to a small torch or a heat gun it can make your your job alot easier !!!!! but u can do without it just pick a corner and peel away some vinyl will leave glue residue behind on the paint dont be scared it just glue almost looks like the clear coat is ripped lol but if you have either goo gone or bug and tar remover or even wd 40 it will take it off fairly easy !! have fun lol
