resonator deletes

Thinking about having a muffler shop cut my resonators out and replacing with 3" pipe.
Any opinions or thoughts on doing this?

My opinion is do it. Sounds better. Shop around though, shouldn't cost too much. I have heard of shops doing it for $40 to $200.

I wanted a little bit more sound out of my GT500 mufflers and deleting the resonators did exactly that.

That's my plan gt5.0nc. I'm going to do resonators now and then order the gt500 mufflers

long as you are doing it for sound because it absolutely does not a damn thing else for your car it does not help it breathe better exit exhaust gasses faster or anything like that is all BS.

I did it on my 14GT using the OTA pipes off of a 2013 GT500. I'm also running the GT500 AB. I did it only for sound and it sounds great.

Had a shop cut mine out and weld in some 2-chamber Flowmaster knock-offs for a couple hundred bucks. Well worth it.

What!?! I have called four different shops in the area and the cheapest that I found was $100 for the labor. And that wasn't even for the material!
Anyone know how long the stock resonator is? I might just go buy the material myself. Cut it off myself. and just have them weld the new pipes in...

Is the stock exhaust 2.75 inches or it actually a 3inch? It looks like a three to me but just suprising if it is.

Take it to a shop and let them see it first hand, easy job and each one is 15-18" long if that.
I paid $60 and they was done in less than 1 hr

Is it even worth it? I have the s type axleback but other than that it's stock and it'll probably stay that way. Does it even sound good and is the sound change worth it and/or even noticeable? I'm thinking of just trading a buddy of mine my stinger axleback for his GT500 and H pipe that keeps the cats on. Any thoughts on any of this garbage that I just threw out here? Thanks fellas. And ladies if you're on here...

I also added Ford Racing aftercat X pipe. Sounds good when you mash it.....but quiet as stock with cruise set on the highway.

I have a friend who has the GT500 axlebacks. I have been in his car before, they have NO drone.

I have GT500 axlebacks and no resonators and they do not drone at all. I have driven 80 on the interstate as well and no drone between 55 and 80. Not sure above that.

I had the resonators deleted at Midas and it was 85$ I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with Roush ABs cold start and up to 3500 rpm it sounds amazing and then Just kinda turns into a raspy mess. With GT500s or Borla though I imagine it would sound amazing.

I also have the same setup and no drone at all. Sounds very good.

Anyone of you guys selling still have those resonators lying around. Would be interested in buying them. Thanks!

Did you ever go through with getting them deleted? If so are you selling them?

I just got mine deleted. No I'm not selling them Chrisotisky. Just in case I need them for some reason down the road.
Anyways, I was looking at the delete job last night and I noticed that they left the bottle-necked pieces on there and used what appears to be a 2 1/2" pipe instead of 3". I'm not sure why they did it that way. It still sounds INCREDIBLE though IMHO. And I am very picky about the exhaust sound (seeing as how I took the stingers off of my car and replaced them with the resonator-less GT500 axlebacks to get it where I wanted it). Any thoughts on the smaller S.S. pipe they used instead of the 3"?

Today I was at the Ford dealership getting my driver's side door panel replaced and had two people compliment me on my exhaust. One was a guy just walking around the lot like I was looking at the trucks and one was my service advisor. They both wanted to know what exhaust I had. These GT500's and the GT500 OTA pipes just seem to get better sounding as time goes on. I'm very happy I switched.
