I'd love to jump on this but I need a dyno comparison first. A lopey idle isn't worth $560 itself.

Folks, this has been well covered elsewhere. You ARE getting a tune if you buy Track Cal. You are NOT, if you buy Track Key. This is only available for late 13s and 14s because the computers are different.

I'm not disputing the fact that there's a tune. I'm hesitant to take Ford at their word on the numbers.

You're disputing a claim of 16 horsepower and 7 lb/ft peak? That's a pretty conservative estimate for any performance tune and well within the bounds of credibility, since the tune it's based off of has pretty consistently showed good results since 2010.

The numbers don't mean squat anyway. What really matters is how it makes the car feel and it is hard to dispute the fact this tune makes the car feel as alive as it should from the factory, given its power level.

I'm more so disputing the 60 ft/lbs gain at 1500.

Completely believeable. The factory tune is as soft as marshmallow creme at that rpm. I can guarantee that gain, based upon my experience with its predecessor, the Procal. It absolutely lights up the low end.

No dyno is going to show this as who goes full throttle at 1500 rpm on the rollers in 5th gear? You can definitely notice it day to day in p/t operation, though.

So, Hows everything going with this now? Did you pick up gas mileage? I am really interested in this. A question though, would this or say a lund tune be better for an everyday car. I want the best power but I don't go to a track. I was actually worried about my warranty until I talked to the service manager where I bought the car (used) and he told me that he don't look for a tune for warranty work. He said bolt on stuff that he can see is all he worries about. I also got an additional 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and didn't even know it, he said all of their cars they sell get the warranty. Its for any lubricated part. So, from what he told me, he don't care if I get the car tuned or not, they don't even check it for the warranty work. So, should I just get a lund, bama or some tune like that or would the procal be better? Thanks guys.

Well, friend, there's what he's saying and what Ford corporate is saying and they are really different. Ford is saying look for a tune right away if someone comes in with major engine warranty work and begin the cancellation process if they find one.

Your call as to who to believe...

I talked with the service adviser at the local dealership about the tuner and my warranty. He said it would not affect my warranty at all. He told me that they would install the tune at no charge, but even if I did it myself my warranty would not be void.

As was said above, it's your call who to believe.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. I bought mine from a Hyundai dealer that actually pulled it from a chevy dealer across the road. They owned both dealerships and wanted the sale. They are the one who talked me into test driving it. How would the warranty even work on that? Who would do the work, their service center or a ford one? I believe the ford warranty is only 3/36000 isn't it? I have a little over 20k on it now. had almost 15 when I bought it.

Ford issues TSB warning against modifications and aftermarket parts for the 2011+ Mustang | Mustangs Daily

or here:

Don’t Panic! The Warranty-Voiding TSB Really Isn’t That Big of a Deal | Speed:Sport:Life

Ford is the source of your warranty, or FRPP in the case of the use of Track Cal or Procal.

if warranty is a concern and you are close to out of the B2B 3/36, you might as well go elsewhere, because the FRPP warranty only lasts for the duration of the 3/36. The regular PT warranty is 5/50.

I didn't realize this. I don't know it mine is early or not but I do not have the track apps. How would I know if I could do the track cal? Us there a certain build date it has to be after? I really am not worried too much about the warranty since I already have 20k miles on it. I think my biggest thing would be finding a dealer to do it in this one horse town (state). I love WV but there is nothing here. I know people who go to NC to Fastlane to get their mustangs modded.

I installed my JLT catch can the other day!!

I have put maybe 100 miles on the car so far and the tune has def settled quite well.I am very pleased with the tune it puts a big smile on my face when I hit the gas!, the car pulls really hard now and the torque is there every single time without the lag.The loopey idle sounds a lot better I just need to fix the small rattle I cant find in the exhaust and the bad gas millage is due to the idle im pretty damn sure..I was on the istate this morning for a short distance and I was getting 18 then when I got off, the idle kicked in around town and it started slowly going back down to 10mpg..This afternoon im gonna turn the idle off and cruise around town and see what happens..Ahh But the idle is so much fun. Does everyones car with a tune pop like a ak47?

what do you think the exhaust would sound like if I take off the side pipes and just run the H-pipe open? I say that because I think that's where my rattle is lol

I'll be honest, the whole idle lope thing reminds of when we were teenage punks and we'd put "race" camshafts in 8:1 smallblocks with iron manifolds and 2bbl carbs....cuz it sounded badass through our glasspacks and dumps.

Now, I'll grant you, if you had a 400+ Hp 11:1 5.0 engine back then, with vacuum-based "engine management", you'd have all the idle lope you could stand. These are the good old days...

I called ford racing and asked about the gas mileage situation ,and he said that didn't sound right and that they haven't tested the fuel consumption ! but should get the same if not alittle better than average depending on the foot..which is odd , .. I havent had time to drive with the idle off. Im still happy with the tune Im just checking what its doing to my car! alittle paranoid because its using a lot of f***ng gas!

GT Track Key Available

I do not have a dyno comparison but I will say you CAN feel it in the seat and there is a noticeable difference, with that said what is the difference I don't know but it is enough to tell just by driving it in both modes. With the tune it does POP allot more as you mentioned above like an ak47 or whatever and gas mileage goes down a little, granted it is not a dyno tune but its pretty cool for the money or maybe not guess that is just a matter of opinion. You can set lauch control and you can turn off and on the lopey idle.

According to Fords instruction pdf (find it on several of the sites that sell the Cal under the description) the settings are manipulated via the left side control on the steering wheel. The control pictured is the same as the one shown on the Premium track app conversion - doesn't match my early base 13 GT. So before I jump on this I'll need to upgrade to the premium track app dash - which I like but the costs are snowballing... just a heads up for earlier 13's....

Got mine installed today, haven't driven it enough to tell any difference yet but I absolutely love the lopey idle! The engine breaking is nice also, sort of growls and pops when decelerating. The controls to turn everything off or adjust launch/pit speed control is the cruise control on the left side of the steering wheel.

This tune sounds cool
But ONLY if you install it when you buy a NEW car.

Reason being, you loose your Ford warranty INSTANTLY
and hope Ford Racing will CYA if the engine goes cookies

But if your like me and have almost 30,000 miles soon to be 36000
Ford Racing will NOT cover any engine damage after 36000

And You loose your 5 year 60,000 mile factory Drive train warranty.

Just to sound cool and loose 5mpg

No Thanks

Right - is your car a premium with track apps? Your garage just shows your old Fox.... My 13 base left control pad is different than the one pictured in Ford's Track Cal pdf.

+1, Ford has it de-tuned at the low end to keep regular folks from hitting phone poles and stop signs by pressing on the gas too hard and having the rear-end slide out from under them

I have mine ordered today, Dealer is hoping to put it in Friday morning, I will post results of my Butt Dyno after the Friday Night Cruz-In. I got this to make the car alive, not increase peak numbers or drag race. But the peak numbers are now very close to 440/400 , as they are 336/397. Numbers are just to talk about while hangin' out many times.

+1 Very reasonable quote above that was my exact goal as well and I love the Track Key tune and the update did resolve the engine light matter that some not all people experience. You feel it in the seat again I did it for the exact reason you have quoted above. Also I sent in my copy of the service record and the invoice from my track key purchase to Ford Racing and my warranty is fully backed just call them and they will walk you through the process. You will also register your VIN again to keep the warranty even if you purchased an extended warranty I just went through the process and did the paper work.

I have the extended warranty also, I was thinking my dealer would do that registering for me, but you needed to do something as well?

Art the guys at Ford Racing told me to send them the copy of my invoice from the Track Key purchase and a Copy of the Service Sheet from the Ford Dealer where it was installed to ensure proper warranty records and coverage. Ford dealer does register it and you will receive a emissions sticker after your install in about 4 days but these copies I am referring to go Ford Racing Ford Motor Company 15021 S Commerce Dr Dearborn MI 48120

Thanks, just what I needed to know !

Edit: I already have the JLT Catch Can, it was the only Engine mod done so far. I'm not going to put any Hot Air Intake on it, it makes idle intake air temps huge. If anything else the Shaker Working Hood Scoop and GT500 stagger 10"/9" rims/tires are the next thing for late fall or early spring God Willing.
