Less than Stellar 1/4 mile times

Took my 2013 auto to the strip last night, the results less than stellar.
The good news is I did not experience the inability to do a burnout that others have, but I was only able to make 2 passes. Several cars broke in the staging area causing delays and one gut broke half way down the track causing additional delays for inspections.
The car is not tuned, stock tires, has BBK shorty headers and a BBK cold air intake.
First pass was 13.4 but I was really slow out of the gate, 0.59 reaction time. Also, launched with traction control off. It was spinning first to second second to third.
Second run was a 13.1 with a 0.23 reaction time and traction control on.
I see people posting 12.4 - 12.6 stock and I wondering whether other things are in play. Temperatures were in the mid 70's and the track is 1120 ft above sea level.
Just curious about others experiences. I really thought it would at least pull around 12.7 like the GT's are said to run stock.

FYI, reaction time has nothing to do with your ET because the timer doesn't start until you leave the box. You can literally sit there for 30 seconds after the green and still clock a 13 second 1/4 mile. What you want to look at is your 60 ft times. From there, you can figure out what might need improvement.

Mine has full bolt ons just about and a tune and some heavy *** 20x10.5 Foose wheels. I just went to the track with it for the first time last night and it went 12.40's @115 on a 1.9 60'. The autos need a converter. Your not gonna be as fast as a stick car on a sticky tire without one. I think your times are normal. Car probably has high 12's in it.

108 - 112 is a normal trap speed for a 5.0.

That first run was horrible, the second seems normal.

Yeah, I don't think the track was al that fast either, there were some cars I was sure would turn 10-11s that were running 12s. Unfortunately there were a couple of gts in front of me but I couldn't see their times. One was definitely a 2013/14, there was an 11 or12 there and a 2009 as well.
A 2010 with slicks turned a 12.8, but he was running with the modifieds, I'd don't know what all he had done to it.
I pretty much keep to myself there.

There are 2 different Pirelli tires that come stock... All-season and summer. There are a couple different sizes, wider with the Brembo package. The manual can put a little more power to the wheel, and weighs a little less. Compare your times to other cars that are identical, and I bet you are good. Professional drivers, with manual, wider summer tires, and perfect conditions ran 12.7. You good with 13.1

60ft is all that matters. Sub 2 second should be good for 12's. I ran a 13.1 bone stock with a crappy 2.xxx 60. Car has 12's in it all day. 6spd though...

13.1 is not 12's, and especially not "all day".

No *hit Sherlock I got 2 runs in, and I haven't dragged RWD in over 3 years coming from a 2011 WRX. 13.1 @ 110 with a 2 second 60ft is more than capable of 12's. That's what I was leading on to

I've got 50+ passes at LVD. I know a thing or 2 about dragging a car. With radials alone that et is good for mid 12's....just gotta drive it there.

Yeah, you're probably right about driving it there! I gotta admit I was a little nervous, especially the first pass. I got up to the burn out box, and the guy signals me to roll down my window, only to tell me to roll up the drivers side.
And its the first time I ran anything in like 25 years so I'm not a young adult anymore and all that, so I'm over thinking things. Then I left the traction control off and I spun some. Finally, I was worried about red lighting so I probably didn't come off as hard as I should have.
Second one I stomped on the last yellow and everything was fine.
I would have liked to make one more pass, but I had the wife with me and she was complaining about wanting to get something to eat!
Se we left after two runs.
But I think with a little more experience, I should hit mid twelves.
Thanks!

I agree. One thing I will say, don't even focus on the tree. R/T doesn't mean a damn thing like someone pointed out. Focus on your launch and slipping the clutch at just the right RPM. My times also sucked because I'm on the garbage all season pirellis. One thing I didn't do though was use the burnout box. If I don't get tires before I make it back there, I'll roast the crap out of them. They were so bad, that like yourself, I had to leave TC on. Tried it once at a low RPM, still spun through third. I need some ET streets like it's cool...

Bone stock down to the tires? or stock power levels? I think it's important to distinguish between the two as I've heard of 11's with stock power levels but not 100% stock car as it came off the showroom floor. When you have a car with 400 HP sticky tires and a few minor suspension mods can easily take half a second or more off your time. And while still impressive not really bone stock anymore.

He swears its bone stock. No mods no suspension not even tires. I'm waiting for video proof of all these stock mustangs doing high 11's.

He's saying bone stock no weight reduction. Nothing. Sounds like there's a potential unicorn to be had in these 5.0 engines apparently. But like a unicorn I don't believe it till I see it.

I doubt he'll be able to get video of this. It'll be a subject lost in the annals of time just as if he's never said it.

Putting down the power you have is most if the work, as I said in the other thread, I used a tire and slightly upgraded rear arms to get 11s, with a Procal tune.

Focus on technique and traction for best results.

Well said, and true. I've done suspension and control arms all around since my first time out with the car. Can't wait to get back there.
