2012 decklid panel removal

I am looking to remove my decklid panel shown below and I wanted to make sure it is taped on by asking you all. Also, would removing it with some kind of heavy duty fishing wire cause the paint to peel off? Many thanks!Click image for larger version

It's just held on by tape. Fishing line is what I've always used.

fishing line will cut through the very strong fishing line, youll then need a healthy dose elbow grease, heat, wd40, and goof off, then some wax products to polish and buff up the area

Okay, and the decklid shouldn't be connected or anything like that to the faux gas cap, right?

its centered by four locating dowels, two of which have these sort of black spacers, but they do not secure it at all
