Few things:
- High-flow / off-road midpipe
- Headers
- Both
- Custom tune; set idle to higher rpm

In the old days, with mufflers under your *** and a low compression PR V8, this was easy. With mufflers out back and a revvy quad cam, it isn't. To get a really rumbly idle, you need to pretty much eliminate mufflers for the most part. That, of course, has the additive effect of making the car sound like Joe Dirt's Plymouth at higher rpm/loads. The world has changed. The way this quad cam, high compression engine sings is unique to itself. I suggest to people they enjoy it for what it is and not try to make it something it isn't....

....there's an irony brewing with your sig, if you go this route, cuz your stang will be anything but.

read what he said: "when in park it's a bit weak".

This engine isn't going to idle like a 427 Cobra with sidepipes. It will always be quiet at idle from inside the car, unless you REALLY loosen up the mufflers. The Roush are already a pretty loud muffler, because of the chamber design. So, to "beef up the sound" from that, I think no mufflers is the only muffler option.

Yeah, you can still go headers and off road H but, it will still be quiet at idle, compared to what I think he's after.

idle will b louder if you go with the offroad set up and do a resonator delete. i dont recomend that tho.. eliminating the res will make it extremely raspy.. did for me anyway.

I just didn't understand the "irony brewing in your sig" part but it doesn't matter.

You'd think headers and a midpipe would make idle a bit more satisfying, but I haven't done a strictly before and after test. I have Borla Stinger AB's (just AB's) and my idle is pretty nasty.

No no no, no res delete with those Roush AB's, haha.

You aren't the OP. The Op calls himself "subtle stang14"...that's irony when we're talking about boosting up the noise level of an already noisy muffler.

Headers and midpipe really tune the sound up when you're on it. When there's barely any flow, there's some but, not a lot of additional noise.

...and Borla Stingers are about as close to no muffler as you can get and still say you have one. they are pretty much straight through and this reiterates my point reasonably well.

Oh, haha that's funny! I thought you meant his signature, not his username.

Yes, the Stingers are definitely barely a 'muffler' but I thought the Roush's are almost identical in size and design.

yeah, they are pretty "unsubtle", too. If he thinks Roush are too quiet at any rpm, there probably isn't a satisfactory answer out there. When I had the mufflers completely off my car I drove it around the block a few times and even that was pretty tolerable inside the car, unless I stepped on it. I think it's the nature of a revvy smaller V8 with rear-mounted mufflers.

Exhaust sound is all or nothing, if you want loud, then just loose the cats and put turndowns after the H. At least that is what the old school in me says, that is probably the cheapest route as well.

I run Outlaw in the Street Legal class at my local drag strip against cars so loud I can't even tell if my car is still running or not without looking at the tach. Now, not everything in Outlaw is a 2000 hp door car doing test hits so, some get a nasty surprise as my quiet, fully loaded couch punches out an 11 sec 1/4, with no engine mods. Now, I like that but, to each their own.

I've heard adding long tubes makes it a little quieter, oddly enough. But I can't speak from experience.

The Ford Racing TrackCal tune makes my 2013 GT with Borla ATAKs sound old school idle moving around a lot even before the Lope kicks in. That was the cure my Idle wishes

And if I want to shut it off, I can start the car with the Off button on the cruz control pressed in,good mean still, jut no lope. Oh and Borla also = No drone on the highway I drive alot highway.

Or you get a Ford TrackCal tune, idle is loud at idle, even before lope kicks in. They solved this problem

Good Axle Back Muffs, and a TrackCal = Kewl Loud Idle

Edit: I am sure if you dont worry about aftermarket tune, MPT can do this for you as well on an SCT tuner. They did on my past V6 with Borla Stingers
