Rear tires thread 8, New in front

The rear tires required replacement, reached thread 2 and 3. The tires in front have a thread of 8. Ford moved the front tires in the rear and installed the new in front. Should the new tires not required to be installed in rear as the rear ones get most wear and tear? I got the oil change done same time, so the next service will be due in at least 6-7 months/7500 miles, that is when tires will be rotated also. Please help.

It seems pretty standard to put new tires on the front of most cars if you're just getting two new tires. This is due to the fact that new tires tend to have better grip, and you want more grip on the tires you steer with (at least this is what I've been told).

Did Ford install our stock pirellis? Ew, you might wanna look into something aftermarket - which would be a major improvement and probably will cost less than getting pirellis from Ford direct.

Thanks Rynarok.
Yes, actually I opted to get the same tires as replacement Pirelli Pzero Nero P235/50ZR18. They were priced the same across the market. The idea of tires of 2 different brands just didn't go well with me, but it seems tires of 2 different brands wouldn't make a difference.
I will ask for suggestions about tires when it will be time to replace the other 2.

Michelin Pilot A/S 3 if you want an all season tire. Mickey Thompson Street Comps if you want high performance tires.
