Console Acc Plug

Has anyone wired the acc plug in the console to be hot only when the ignition is on? On my '14 it's always hot, and I'd like it to power off with the ignition. I'm not an electrician, but I can pull the console apart and splice wires if I know which ones to splice.

All you need is a $5 test light. Probe a few console wires for one that is hot only at ignition on and tap power off that. Connect that to the extant power wire to the lighter and Bob's yer uncle.

Be careful with a test light in the new cars. It sends a low current through that lead and if you hit the wrong wire that could cause a lot of other issues!! Be safe and use a multimeter if possible.

We aren't talking back probing ecm wires here under
console here. The risk is pretty low.

Test lights are NOT recomended for ANY newer vehicle it's eaiser than some may think to hit the wrong wire and have hell too pay because of it.The best way to go is too tap into your radio's switched 12 volt wire google the radio harness... Should be yellow coming out of the radios big *** plug... Using a 30$ multimeter will let you know for sure. Strip back some wire connect the DMM ground to a solid gorund and the positive lead to the intended switched wire and turn the key to acc. if the dmm shows a reading when the key is in acc position and not when the key is removed then thats the wire you want. Once you are happy with the wire selection then you can tap into the wire using one of several methods. I only solder then heat shrink or wrap with Super33 electrical tape but it can be a little challenging to heat-shrink with a splice. Good luck man holla if you need any help.
