After market Steeda short shifter

Every time I shift into 2nd gear while making a turn, it makes a strange noise when it goes in and it also has an odd feel to it...
Anybody know how to fix this problem? Does anybody's car have the same problem?

Mine does the same thing when turning and shifting to 2nd. My car is brand new as well. I dont really worry about it though cuz i figure its just another "thing" with the mt82.

I would like to hear what others have to say as well though.

Let me look into this with our manufacturing team. I have yet to come across this issue so I can't speak to the issues that you are experiencing.

As soon as I hear more ... I will let you know.

Best Regards,

TJ

Hello,

Are you using the supplied spacer for the shifter?

I spoke to manufacturing & they are unclear to what may be taking place. If you can provide some more insight ... we will continue to look into it once we get more information.

Best Regards,

TJ

I have the Steeda shifter and bracket. I can't say I've noticed this but will check the next time I drive it.

I've noticed this as well. I notice it in 2nd and third. It sounds like it's coming into contact with something it shouldn't be. I think I'm just going to get an mgw and call it a day.

You have noticed this with the Steeda Tri Ax?

Yeah. I have the bracket too. I had to have the spacer thing put in because I was getting locked out of second. Apparently some 14's have different specs and steeda had to create a spacer to fix it because going into second caused you to hit the reverse lock out plate. The spacer fixed the lock out issue, but it still makes odd noises from time to time going into 2nd and 3rd.

There seems to be something going on here with the transmission vs. having an issue with the Tri Ax shifter. It is happening on both sets of cars ... ones with & ones without.

Best Regards,

TJ

This problem started immediately after my shifter install. I know it's not my transmission.

A short throw shifter provides a more positive/direct connection with the transmission.

We eliminate a lot of the rubber with stiff materials for a better feel.

The downside to that is it will transmit more noise from the transmission and as the industry has noted ... these transmissions have a lot of opportunity for improvement.

Best Regards,

TJ

Glad it worked out for you. You can reach me at tim@steeda.com if you are looking at any future Steeda parts & I can provide you with a forum code for you the issues that you experienced.

That is interesting, however ... I will provide more feedback to our engineers.

Best Regards,

TJ

I liked the tri ax. I just think the addition of the spacer was a weird fix and I believe it contributes to some of the issues, especially going into 2nd. The entire piece needs to be correctly manufactured to the adjusted ford specs for the 14's. But im not an engineer so i could be wrong. I'll pm you if I need any steeda stuff. Thanks!

Worse case Steeda has lifetime warranty, but clutch replacement is the real cure
