You will also find it more universally able to have other tuning folks tune for the SCT. Tunes are like MP3 sometimes, you collect them from many other bands and use them to the moment you feel

Why would anyone go with an x3 when the x4 is out now? Same price and the x4 is superior.

Well it depends on how long the x4 has been out. First ones had bugs and issues to resolve, that is standard. I never recommend changing to the first x.0 version on any Hi_tek product until bugs are worked out, including things like 3.7 and 5.0 TiVCT motors or cell phones

If by now the 4.x SCT has the bugs worked out, then yes that would be a better product. I still have an SCT 3.x I used on my V6, as I use the Ford TrackCal tuner now on the GT.

That's great new to hear ! However there were many posts about issues when it first came out you can find on this and other forums. With the great SCT service I am sure they have been resolved by now.

Fuk SCT. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to their failures to return to stock.

I had my issues way in the beginning with failures. Then I practiced care rituals such as always returning to stock, turning all power off, and such.

With these rituals I had 5 successful uploads.

Now 5 months after the last tune I just tried to upload a new tune. My car is bricked. Fuk SCT this is the shiitiest tuner ever.

SCT got it unlocked. But they strongly suggested that I update the software. Guess what? Sitting here trying to update the tuner. Now the tuner's bricked. Been sitting here for 10-15 minutes waiting.

On phone hold with sct. Still waiting. Piece of shiit

According to the updater if I unplug the tuner before completion I won't have an operating system on the tuner.

But I'm looking and there seems to be an OS. Im trying to upload the tune now. Its 65%... We'll see.

So apparently they use scare tactics at SCT. They'll tell you that updates are mandatory and the new tunes make use of the new updates and if you don't update your device the new tunes won't work.

That's bullshiit. Device doesn't program dynamic code. Just uploads the tunes so all this update or your tunes won't work is bullshiit but I'm trusting them and it failed the update. And it scares the hell outta you that you won't have an OS on your tuner. But so far the second pass (download tune) is happening without a hitch. 24%.... Fingers crossed

My car is bricked

So I finally successfully tuned it. Car runs fine. Lesson here:

1.) Don't update your tuner
2.) Just cuz SCT says you will fail if you don't update or have no OS it doesn't mean its the truth.
3.) Make sure if the radio is turned on or comes on for some reason, abort. Disconnect the device. Turn the car off and restart. Don't assume the just cuz the device didnt start the upload process that this spike in power won't brick the process. I had USB music on and never ever did the radio blast coming back to the car after listening to USB. This caused the failure.
